Why did Murray decide to go long on that last drive? If they got the first, the could've killed alot of clock. Just seems the Cards were giving them the win...

kyler is NOT calling the plays, the playcalling was stupid all day! Going to Hopkins was a given and then we just go away from it when he was open all day just plain stupid cute coaching trying to do too much!

I thought the play calling (at least on offense) was not bad. Murray’s interceptions were a game killer. The first one was just a high pass that Arnold couldn’t come down with. The other 2 were just terrible passes. And the defensive play calling was not good either. Calling blitzes at the wrong time

The same reason Joseph put Chandler Jones in coverage in crunch time in SF. I still doubt VJ abilities to coach a successful playoff defense

If Pat P is your best coverage guy that many say (fans & coaches) you don’t take that out of what you supposedly do best with the game on the line!!!

Bottom line this defense doesn’t have hardly any playmakers!!! Guys that take it away from the offense. Or coaching is part of that and/or both. :bang:

Just my 2 cents
WHY DO YOU CALL A PP BLITZ THERE!!!!???

This team needs a f’ing kick in the ass. We thought this was a walkover. What a total team piss poor show. PATHETIC effort, crappy play calls, and telegraphed defensive scheme.
Im afraid Kliff cannot handle winning, he has a losing record in college. I dont see how he could motivate this team.

Terrible game, the goats are:

#1 Kyler Murray’s terrible reads, terrible vision, terrible throws, terrible mechanics and terrible decisions.

#2 KK’s play calling.

#3 VJ’s 2-minute defense in both half’s.

#4 Special Teams

Man, this board turns quick. We lose by a field goal and we are the worst team ever. If we pull out the win by a field goal, are 3-0 and ready to conquer the world. No minor ebb and flow here. It' all or nothing.
Haha. Exactly. We played like absolute poo and the other team has plenty to prove after getting worked the first two weeks and we still lose by a few.... Now, criticism will be plenty across the board...but this was a team loss. Own it, learn from it and move forward. If this team can do that... they'll be just fine.

So seeing this game, gives me the security that we aren't a playoff team this year. After game 3 we know more or less who we are. A team that isn't there yet. With a young QB that isn't where he should be a D-Coordinator that can't produce TO if his life depends on it, to many penalites ...

Now we get another 2 "easier" teams but after that the easy games are over and if we end up 8-8 we can be happy.

If you wanna make a playoff run you have to win all games you should win and then some that are a toss up and maybe one that you shouldn't but we aren't there yet and so. I for now don't see us in the playoffs, at all.

your joking right? A young QB that’s not where he supposed to be?

Just an observation. Murray rarely throws short passes over the middle. Is it because of his height?

THe playcall was good, on every int someone else was open, most of the time even two. The problem was Kyler.

You can call it how you want. The deep throw on the last drive was the wrong decision, Isabella was open and Hopkins as well...

On the 3rd int, Hopkins and Isabella were open.

On the 2nd int, Fitz was open

On the first Int Kyler overthrew a open TE.

Sometimes you have to call out your QBoF Kyler after 3 games isn't the best QB of the 2019 class. That is now Minshew. Kyler 3-5 TD-INT ratio is an evidance that you can't get by.

Your right, but in reality this team still has holes & reasons why it’s going to be tough to compete for a championship at this point.

1)Barely any defensive playmakers
2) suspect DC in Joseph
3) too many penalties
4) Kliff still miss manages situational football

This defense better learn how to cover a back out of the backfield. Several times they knew we were gonna blitz and it was easy peasy.

These facts:

the blitz rarely got home and more often than not was burned.

another game without a takeaway

the massive reliance on keesean Johnson

the low usage of kyler on designed draws playing a man-defense

As far as I can tell we didn’t take away a single aspect of the game from a bad lions team.

rare downfield throws despite fairly good protection for kyler

don’t get me wrong, kyler had a really bad game today too. And really no one had big impact offensively or defensively. But imo we were thoroughly out-coached on both sides of the ball. Detroit was obviously scheming kyler confused and kk didn’t find answers. And vances defense just didn’t stiffen whenever it was needed nor create turnovers.
If you are waiting for Vance's blitz packages to get home...you will wait a while. Vanilla Vance is one of the worst at it.

I will agree on the Kyler runs as it seemed to be missing after the past couple weeks.

Kinda the way sports works. You don’t get a moral victory. They lost. They looked bad losing. And they allowed a team on an 11 game losing streak to get off the schneid.

Andy Isabella finally had a game where he looked like a WR, and yet we throw to Keasean Johnson...who wouldn't make many other NFL rosters....numerous times....in crunch time.

All of Kylers INTs were just bad plays. No great plays by the defenders...Kyler threw it right to them, and should have had a 4th INT but it hit the guy in the chest and he dropped it.

Kyler didnt run today...at least not enough to make the defense worried. Drake ran alright, but again...we would rather throw it to a WR who was no business being on the field.

When we got the ball back tie game, we should have been able to run the ball, take 4+ min off the clock and kicked the go ahead field goal.

People can disagree, but I don't see the Lions winning another 4 games this year...probably looking at 4-12. We are a team that was trying to take a step....this is a game that could very well keep us out of the final playoff spot. I would much rather get stopped by a better team for a slice of humble pie....not get beaten by a weak ass team, at home.

Kyler is primarily a first read guy. He’s not anywhere near MVP caliber. Media hype is ridiculous. He has supreme physical gifts that can cover for many flaws, but this is the NFL. He needs to clean up his game or he’ll never be more than he is right now.

It’s certifiably insane to say Minchew is better than Kyler. Just go ask Jacksonville fans if they want to trade.
