This is either:

A team that has played down to it's competition, hampered by a very conservative coach.

or

It is 2012 vibes. Start 4-0 and finish 5-11

Said this earlier… more like 2002 vibes 4-2 start, finish 5-11. At least the 2012 4-0 start had what seemed like legit big time Ws winning on the road against the AFC Defending Champ Pats and the 3-0 Eagles (in a 27-6 shellacking).

This team is barely getting by the dregs of the league like when we beat an equally putrid Cowboys team 9-6 in OT to go to 4-2.

I love your consistency in releasing Kyler from any blame ever. At least we always know where you stand.
Love your twisting of a comment which I never said he bared no blame. Bad pick! But if the whole team falls apart with a giant lead from one pick that’s idiotic! They coaches failed now two weeks in a row playing conservative BS on offense and defense when they have the lead it’s ridiculous!

Clearly better than Harrison:

Nabers
Bowers
McConkey
Thomas Jr

Then Marvin is in this tier:

Harrison
Worthy
Pearsal
Coleman
It’s also annoying that Charmin has already been surpassed by McMillian and Matthew Golden.

I said at the draft that MHJ was a can’t miss as a guy who will not bust. We might have to get used to the idea that PJJ and MHJ are guys whose ceilings are “will make a couple pro bowls.”
Brutal payoff for two years of deeply regrettable football.
Exactly. It was almost palpable that you feel the intensity let up. It's like this staff is too much on the intellectual side rather than giving guys a kick in the ass or lighting into them when they let up.

After they recovered the onside kick all of sudden we started playing with our hair on fire. It resulted in some penalties but all of the sudden the intensity was back. It shouldn't be like that. The coaches and team leaders should not allow guys to let up like that. But when you rush four and play Budda in two deep 15 yards back every play then even he can't really crank everyone up.

Thats that winning culture we sacrificed the 2023 season to build.

my only guess is Gannon and Rallis were afraid the CB's couldn't hold up if they blitzed and didn't get home but Carolina was just dinking and dunking downfield one drive after another, 55 passes 3 sacks so 3 out of 58 pass attempts and not for that 3rd one, the CC one we might have lost.

If the CB injuries are serious we're in deep trouble. We like to play either 3 CB's or 3 safeties and sometimes both. Rabbit appears to be the best cover guy of the 3 safeties but he's not a CB.

Maybe a terrible play but if your whole team and coaching staff falls apart after a pick just fuckignnpack up and call it a season that’s the softest crap ever! They were up 27-3 and the COACHES decided to play like botches the rest of the way on both sides of the ball that’s why this game closed out like it did, don’t try to pin it on a pick where his arm was hit and ball went up into the air how ridiculous.
Agree. Kyler had an couple issues but if there was even a single testicle in our coaching staff this game isn't close. They could share it for fuxsake

McMillan yes but golden has 2 catches for 16 yards on the season what am I missing?

Someone else said it but at this point I;m not sure Marv is better than Ricky Pearsall either. He probably is but it's way too close. Not all his fault clearly Kyler is part of it but again today drop right in his hands. Didn't come down with the ball in the endzone not a great throw but as others said he doesn't highpoint balls. He did comeback on one and draw a long PI penalty and he looks better after the catch this year but so far he's only getting wide open on pick plays

We need to keep feeding him because he's our best Wr but sure has been disappointing so far.

The players play based on what they get from their coaches.
When the coaches start calling lakydaisical plays the players sense their is no need for urgency and respond accordingly.
Just a horrible misuse of resources when we invest in talent to make plays then refuse to put them in position to do so

I went to bed after the INT.

Got up this morning, flicked the highlights on to watch the last 10 minutes. Saw the highlights had 40% still to play at that point and thought "WTF?"

What an absolute crap show.

After watching today, I believe Kyler's second read on every play is the check down and if it is open he is supposed to take it. He has said it more than once that he is just running the offense.

No offense is 1st read, checkdown.

It would be some coincidence that both Kliff and Drew's offense with Kyler was 1st read and checkdown.

Thank you for pointing out Kyler’s pick. I think Kyler played pretty well today except for that pass.

He was bad when the game was close, conservative, quick reads, lots of checkdowns. He got better as the lead extended, and when we were up 17 he was much calmer in the pocket, took his time, waited for guys to get open, made some nice passes. The attempt to play hero and find someone downfield before the tackle came from that.

Then as the Panthers got closer his butthole puckered again and he got worse and worse.

This is a career long pantern. He's better when the pressure is off (this includes being down multiple scores) and poor in games that are in the balance or in clutch situations.

I'm going to hope we're an improving teams with lots left to get better that's going to gradually improve and not a flawed team that's going to struggle like this all year.

I'm glad we started with two teams that are going to be picking top 5 next year.

That play was a bad play but in now way determined the outcome of this game.

JG needs to slap his coaches. They are gagging late in games.
Thankfully it didn't, because we still won. It very, very nearly did, though.

This is where you lose credibility, man. Except for that one play, I pretty much agree with you. You get so hardcore defensive you can't just say, "Yeah, dumb mistake. Shouldn't have made that play there." Then no one is arguing with you and we're all talking about how well he did leading up to that.

It also wasn’t the reason for this game to be even close. The defense decided after being up 27-3 the game was over and we played like preventndumb crap defense the rest of the game! Even on a 4th andn16 we rushed 4 like we had it all sewn up already! Not to mention not recovering an onside kick is the dumbest crap of the day!
It wasn't THE reason, of course not. Nobody is saying that. It was definitely A reason. A select few are saying it had no bearing on the game. It obviously did.

That onside kick, though...so angering.

Literally no one is saying this. Because he is getting criticized for the bad play and the effect it played in the game, you and a select few feel people are saying this, but nobody is.

We only won this game because of a defensive score and because of a Greg Dortch return that gave us a 45 yard field before half time. Without those 2 plays we lose this game.
