Trey doesn’t run many/any timing routes though. Everyone else is running routes so that Trey can run to space three yards past the LOS.

I don't know I do know every week we're told by the analysts that Trey runs lots of option routes where he basically decides where to go based on the coverage and yet he and Kyler manage to be on the same page meaning he reads the coverage the same way Kyler does.

I agree he runs different routes than the WR's do what I am saying is he's by far the most reliable receiver we have. When was the last time he had a wide open drop or quit on a route?

I feel like Trey had a miscommunication with trey vs SF or Carolina (can't remember which one). I don't know why you mention a wide open drop. I don't know why that would be a communication issue. In terms of a quit route, he plays where Kyler likes to throw so I don't know how often he is treated like an afterthought.

Fair enough. My point was the reasons Kyler trusts McBride more than the other guys and one of them is the drops.

Trey gets a crap tonne of the ball. Kyler got him paid. Nobody has more motivation to run every route like it's his last than Trey. He's living his dream.

Not so much if you're Mike Wilson. Who has gone from over 50 yards per game with Josh Dobbs to, 9 yards a game this year with Kyler. And it's declined steadily in between.

Did Mike suddenly go from a 50 YPG guy with Dobbs to a 32 YPG guy with Kyler when he returned in 2023 or was it because Kyler heavily favour throwing to Trey? Who saw his yardage shoot up on Kyler's return? Trey went from 31 YPG to 68 YPG on Kylers return. Did both players suddenly get better or worse, or does Kyler prefer throwing the same easy routes to Trey covered by a LB or CB3 than hitting his WR's outside on tougher throws vs better defenders?

I wouldn't want to be a WR playing with Kyler Murray. At the end of the day everyone is human and motivation matters. I could only run so many routes without seeing a target before I stopped giving a crap.

I'm just waiting for the game in which at the snap every WR on the field just turns and looks at kyler with hands on hips

Also, how many times as a WR can you run a route specifically designed to clear the field for Trey? If you're Mike Wilson or Zay Jones wouldn't you be thinking "how about some actual progressions where I have a chance of getting the ball or a play that clears the field for me?"

I'm sure people will say "Well that's on Petzing" but it's not really as Kyler isn't giving him much choice. Petzing is designing the plays like that because he knows Kyler can throw them. He's not doing the others because he knows he won't. Petzing is trying to manage his way to as many wins as possible with a limited QB until they can move on.

You don't pack Broccoli for your kids lunch knowing they won't eat it, no matter what you prefer. You pack the PB&J you know they will eat.

The Petzing needs to run an 0/2 personnel and have all the WR's run go, skinny post, fly....and keep both TE's in to block.
That way the only pass options are deep....and the only other option is scramble...away from max protect.

Run a few of those and maybe kyler will learn to let it rip the moment he sees his wr has gotten behind his guy.

memory so I'd have to look it up but that was his rookie year and there was a point during that year where we switched QB's to Murray, but Hollywood was out injured and Wilson went from being the 2nd WR to being the WR1 or X receiver in our offense. He talked about it last year when askd about Marv saying that when HE had to play X as a rookie in our offense he found out how tough it was because he was often the only WR on the field

So does Kyler impact his stats yes, but what also impacted his stats is he went from the 2nd guy who never got the best CB or safety over the top, to playing WR 1 for a few games with Brown out and suddenly going against the other teams best cover guy, often with a safety over.

I mean Kyler had 200 more passing yards than Dobbs, with virtually the same attempts, same year, with Brown missing I think the last 3 games. It's hard to argue the passing game was better with Dobbs than Kyler? It may have been better for Wilson.

None of that has anything to do with the 1 play, if Wilson wants the ball more maybe read the blitz and break off the route he was the hot guy the ball IS coming to him if he does that.

Hollywood only missed 3 games, the last 3 of the season and Mike had 0 yards in the first, 35 in the 2nd and 95 in the 3rd. To average about 44 YPG.

This is the greatest highlight video I've ever seen. Bonus: My wife sent it to me. Warning: language.

maybe this has been covered, but:

first scoring drive. Goal to go and a false start is called on Jonah Williams. Live, it looked to me like Seatlle was offside. They show the replay and the announcers are like---- ehhhhh. Jonah didnt move.

Am i the only one who tought this?

kinda crazy that this exact situation vs Sam Darnold Vikings when Reiman was called for a false start.

no it happened we all called it out in the game thread. In Seattles first TD drive there was a blatant false start that didn't get called too,

in fact on their winning FG drive the play before the kick the LG jumped early, but the kick was good by well over 5 yards so even if they had called it he probably still makes the kick
