I don’t care if Jesus H. Christ was our qb. This offensive line needs a major overhaul. We can’t run and a we can’t pass protect.
Brissett is a bridge for our QBOFT. MO has to fix the o-line this off season and not with a bunch of 5th-6th round picks.
Agree, but how much of it is the players or is it the OL coach? With pretty much the same personnel, this OL performed fairly well the previous 2 seasons. When you gut a team in the manner that we did in 2023, you can only rebuild it so much every year. Based on how the OL performed the previous 2 years, there were bigger holes to fill going into 2025. I don’t think MOJG ever expected this OL to be anywhere near as bad as it has been. For that reason, and that reason alone, the OL coach will be fired on Black Monday. They can keep “some” of the younger OLinemen they drafted the last few years, but get rid of Brown, Williams, and FAT 68! All 3 are washed & were never very good to begin with. Our 1st rounder this year ABSOLUTELY has to be a Tackle, and we must spend some FA money there too. And STOP hiring college coaches! This is the NFL. The same applies to the DL coach. Another failed college experiment. I understand that we have had a ton of injuries in the DL, but even when somewhat healthy, they have underperformed. Football at ANY level is won and lost on both sides of the LOS. If you want to point a finger at why we’ve lost 6 games by 3 or less points, it’s because we’ve been dominated at the LOS.

This is crazy. WHat more could anyone possibly want than a WR that when targeted he catches the ball?

I fell like you think 33/25 303 yards and 12 YPA from Ja'Marr Chase or Puka Nakua is elite, but when Mike Wilson does the exact same thing there some mystery external factor at play.
Target share matters. Especially when you’re looking at go-forward value.

Wilson had a 31% target share against Jville and 32% against San Fran.

Puca has a 26% target share on the season (he missed a game with injury). Chase as a 28% target share. Are you going to feed MikeWilly the ball more than those guys?

If you were GM PA, what would be your plan for this upcoming offseason? for FA and the draft?
Football at any level is won or lost at the LOS. The reason we have lost 6 games by 3 points or less, is because our OL has been dominated & the DL has underperformed. Injuries have factored into the latter, but they still can’t make plays in crunch time. For starters, I would fire both the OL and DL coaches. This is the NFL, so stop hiring college coaches.

Absolutely have to draft an OT in the 1st round & we definitely need to spend money in FA there also. We need an experienced NFL DL coach with a HISTORY of being able to develop players because we need to know whether DRob can play & WHERE he can play.

We need a WR3/4, and we need a RB if Benson doesn’t come back & show something, anything. And while we’re at it, fire the entire training staff. If they can’t do a better job of mitigating injuries, then they should hit the road LOL.

I’m probably the wrong guy to ask about the QB position lol. I will always be a Murray fan regardless of where he plays. Since the current regime didn’t draft him, it’s hard to say what they’re thinking. There are pros and cons as to what type of QB best fits this Petzing offense. And who even knows if Petzing will be back next year? If Murray isn’t back, it won’t necessarily be because of how they perceive him from a talent standpoint. It’ll be whether they feel confident that he can stay healthy. He did play all 17 games last year, and his injury this year was a fluke. But, teams cannot consistently win unless their QB is consistently available. I’m hoping he returns this season, gets to play, and plays well. Only time will tell.

What does it matter? He's shown he can handle a 30% target share.

Puka, JJ, Chase etc have all had 2 game stretches in their career where they had 30%+ target share and fans here would say "I wish we had a receiver that can do that".

Well we do have a receiver that can do that. I feel like y'all think it's somehow less impressive than any of those guys because he's a Cardinal.

That’s why I’m not drawing any conclusions or deranged comparisons after two games. Plenty of additional data to be gathered.

It seems crazy to me that you can defend this coaching staff and also think they had Puca Nacua on the roster and were just not throwing him the ball.

Well,

1. I've criticised the coaching staff lately. I think you are confusing me saying the poor pass game was Kyler, not Petzing. Which the JB switch has proven correct.

2. Petzing doesn't decide where the ball goes. Sure, there are plays designed for certain primary targets but as we've seen since Kyler went out, everyone has improved.

I don't think Wilson is Puka. But I do think, as I always have, that he can be a good WR1 / great WR2. My comp for him has always been Adam Thielen.

In fact, Mike been so poor with Kyler is one reason I knew Kyler sucked. I was sure Mike had the talent.
