somewhere i saw a list of HCs with sub -500 records in their first three seasons that were retained

something like 10/11 didnt make .500 the next season and were fired. One eeked out a record above .500

why delay the inevitable?
Do you know who that 1/11 head coach that eeked out an above .500 record in their 4th season as head coach after having 3 consecutive losing seasons?

I've been wondering lately about how well Nfl head coaches with 3 consecutive losing seasons tend to do in their 4th season.

I suppose there is some 3D level chess story that has Monti telling Mike that due to Kylers contract, the team is basically stuck with him until 2025 and that they would make the best of it until then.

if Kyler worked, great. If not, they move on.

It would explain why Monti has been careful with the cap space.

I also think that if that were the case, maybe you would have seen a QB get drafted last year --even if its like a Will Howard in the 6th
Why would Monti and JG want to work for a team with an established starting quarterback if they didn't really believe in that quarterback?

Wilks got fired because that team was utterly non competitive.

Gannon could save his job if the fan base doesn’t completely turn on him. I said it at the beginning of the season and I still believe it: results of games decided by 7 point or less are random.

KC won like 12 games last year that were decided by a score. This season they can’t get a break and are like 1-6. Did Andy Reid forget how to coach?
JG has had a losing record in games by decided by 7 points in all 3 seasons he's been head coach so far:

2023: 2-5
2024: 3-5
2025: 2-7 (so far)

I looked at Gary Kubiak's win-loss record on a season by season basis and he had a losing record (6-10) in his 1st season but was 8-8 in his 2nd and 3rd seasons.

So "non winning" but by that definition years 2 and 3 would also be "non losing".

Well, I'm of the thinking that JG and MO first brought a good attitude to this team when they were first hired. I thought that they might somehow turn the team into a winner, which was supposed to happen this year, but hasn't.

But, the wins have not come this season like everyone has thought it would. I thought JG would be a better game coach than what he has shown. But, from some of the play calling and post game interviews, he has not shown enough improvement.

The same with MO. I think he tried to out smart everyone by making certain draft decisions that would make us a better team. He let some good draft picks slip by us that maybe he should not have. I would give him an A for trying, but an F for the way things have worked out.

If they both stay, I would like to see them change the way they do things from here on out.
Not so much. Some on this board fanatically loved them and defended them to their dying day simply because they were new and different. Other posters blasted Monti, in particular, for his ish show tear down.

I don’t see how you can justify retaining Gannon any longer.
The entire coaching staff sucks. However, at this juncture, ownership doesn't care to make a move because draft position can definitely be improved - especially when other bottom feeders (like New Orleans) are still playing to win.

I want a coach with a plan, these ones said they don’t have an identity- on purpose, flex options - but it ain’t working - can’t compete in our division - no plan to compete

one can make the argument that this roster is in worse shape than the one Monti took over

arguably, better cap situation but that was accomplished only through the tolling of time on Kylers contract

So this is an interesting stat you will think I’m making up. Steve Wilks never had a 5-game losing streak as HC of the Cardinals. Right now JG has two 5-game losing streaks this season.
