2003-04 Suns Season Predictions

Athlon Sports Pro Basketball Annual: Lists the Suns 4th in the Pacific Division.
“The Suns are far from complete, but if they find a regular center, (Shawn) Marion finds some consistency and (Zarko) Cabarkapa is able to contribute right away, the NBA will have another emerging contender in the Western Conference.”

Basketball Digest: Lists the Suns 3rd in the Pacific Division.

”The Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings are still the class of the league, but the clock is ticking. Within two years, the Suns will be gunning for a division title and postseason laurels.”

CBS.sportsline.com: Lists the Suns 10th overall. 4th in the Pacific Division.

“The Suns are the kind of team that can run off streaks in both directions because of youth. But they're good and dangerous.”

ESPN.com: Lists the Suns 8th overall. 3rd in the Pacific Division.

“Didn't add anything they can count on, but Stephon (Marbury) and Amare (Stoudemire) got healthier. Which definitely counts for something. And even though it's too early to count on Cabarkapa, folks are raving about the rookie.”

Hoopshype.com: Lists the Suns 7th overall. 3rd in the Pacific Division.

“The Suns are now deeper with first-round picks Zarko Cabarkapa and Leandrinho Barbosa. Watch out for the Montenegrin forward. They may have a strong contender for Rookie of the Year there.”

Lindy’s Pro Basketball: Lists the Suns 3rd in the Pacific Division.

“The Suns displayed a lot of toughness and the ability to play hard (last season). They must continue to play this way and they must continue to work hard and not rest on what they did last season. Marbury and Marion had to lead the way. (Frank) Johnson has to keep on his players like he did last season."

The Sporting News: Lists the Suns 9th overall. 3rd in the Pacific Division.

“The Suns didn’t trade Jason Kidd for Marbury two years ago to be just a playoff team. The idea was to put together a younger team to eventually contend for a championship. The Suns are youthful and athletic but a few years away. Still, the emergence of Stoudemire makes that goal seem possible.”

Sports Illustrated: Lists the Suns 8th overall. 3rd in the Pacific Division.

“They’ve always been considered a soft team with finesse players, but they have an opportunity to change that image with their three young stars – Stephon Marbury, Amare Stoudemire and Shawn Marion, who has packed on a dozen pounds of extra muscle."

Sports Illustrated for Kids: Lists the Suns 3rd in the Pacific Division.

“Marbury emerged as a leader last season, a key reason the Suns made the playoffs. But if they want to get past the first round, he must persuade his teammates to play hard in every game. Phoenix was inconsistent last season. They would lose to the sub par Nuggets, then beat the super Spurs three games later.”

Street and Smith’s Pro Basketball Yearbook: Lists the Suns 3rd in the Pacific Division.

“Watch for the Suns to land on their feet and back in the playoffs. After that, with this conference, anything can happen.”

USA Today.com: Lists the Suns 4th in the Pacific Division
