I have been mentally preparing for the Cardinals to run it back in 2026 sans Kyler Murray. It will still be shocking but just like the other ways the Cardinals have shocked my with their incompetence.
Maaaaaaaaan...........

I've said it 100 times being a Cardinals fan, but if we do this, I will have truly reached my wits end.

Are you ignoring the fact that he is 3 years in and about to break his own franchise record for points allowed by an opponent (that is unless he somehow stops the Rams from scoring 5 points)? 14 losses will be the worst loss total in franchise history--and our franchise doesn't exactly have a stellar history, he is already tied for the most losses with 13 (which he has done twice in 3 years). if Gannon was in year one maybe he'd deserve a pass but he isn't, this team is performing worse on the field than the Wilks led team did--and they did it with Josh Rosen at QB. He has to be judged on what his record is so far and 20 games under .500 should be a nail in any coaches coffin.

I don't care about the injuries he hasn't done a thing to make me think he has "it" for turning this team around. He is a distant 4th in coaching acumen in our division, his record against the NFC West is abysmal.
Why does the injury year happening in year 3 make it less excusable than if it happened in year 1? There's nothing any coach can do to prevent it, why would it upset you less if it was happening to a first year coach? Does that make any sense? You're talking about negative records being broken when breaking injury records and playing 27 different practice squad players. Wow I never would have guessed. 2024 is much more reflective of the team than this year was. We're not going to be getting the doors blown off us every week in 2026.

If you're worried about the coaches schemes you shouldn't be, both Petzing and Gannon have been ahead of the meta on scheme. Its a copycat league and more and more teams are running the same stuff we were running in 2023. McVay completely changed his offense this year to copy Petzing's 3 TE passing game concepts. McVay went from running 13 personnel 0% of the time in 2024, to running 13 30% of the time in 2025. The whole league is starting to adopt the same 3 TE concepts. If we move on from Petzing his replacement will be running a similar offense, it's everywhere.

I'm not even saying this because I'm adamant Gannon should stay, but because I want you to know that its not the end of the world if Gannon isn't replaced. I don't think there are any slam dunk hires we can make. This is a coaching cycle where McCarthy and Matt Nagy are being floated as the hottest candidates.

One of these things is not like the other

Same story here -
Top 6 picks, we are the only team to pick a dud. Yes, Alt and Nabers are injured but are both already Pro Bowlers

In our sucktitude - a meaningless win against Philly kept us from a QB in 2024.

And here we are - oof.

The only way I see Gannon coming back....
We started with 2 wins
Week 3 we lost Conner in a close loss
Week 4 we lost Benson in a close loss
Week 5 we lose Murray in a........let's just say loss
Week 6 we no longer have a running game or QB1 and have to shift game plan to throw first and pray...

Now, the cards tried to win game but realized it wasn't going to happen, so the unofficial tank begins from the top down to the coaches. This lets Gannon off the hook but changes still have to be made.
This is as positive as I can be because in reality...flush it all and start over is the only other option

Does anyone know how long those little blue pills last? I have plenty left over for the next couple of years I guess...

I never said injuries in year 1 are an excuse, what I said is in year 1 he may deserve the benefit of the doubt, he hasn't established a pattern yet of suckage yet. Year 3 and Gannon has experienced ZERO success in his tenure, none, he does not deserve any leeway for injuries, he deserves to be unemployed. I don't care about injuries, I care about results and he is 20 games below .500 after 3 years! Again the Cardinals in their entire history have lost 13 games FIVE times---2 of those are under Gannon! The Cardinals have only given up 450 points or more in a season 3 times--2 of them were with Gannon as head coach! Defense is supposed to be his area of expertise and the team is awful on defense.

As for schemes, it doesn't matter if your situational play-calling is awful.

If he comes back we will still be stuck in 4th place again, with no hope in sight--that's about guaranteed. If we replace him, we will probably still be in 4th place next season but we MIGHT get lucky and make a great hire (like we did with Arians) and have a something to look forward to. Bringing Gannon back for year 4 just delays his inevitable firing by a season--sure we may slog from 3-14 to 7-10 or so, but big deal.

We were never taking a QB in the 2024 draft

There is a bit of Monti Derangement Syndrome happening lately.

However, keeping JG would be Monti proving his critics right about him. I get that he feels JG got a bad deal with K1's health/limitations, but he's gotta know he's not the guy.

Disappointing to hear the PHNX crew say JG will be back, but with a new OC and ST coach.
Here's hoping they have bad sources on this.

Kyler is certainly an easy scapegoat. His team is terrible at the media stuff and his body language and mediocre play certainly hasn’t endeared him to fans.

But anyone who buys the Bidwill crap about K1 being the main “problem” are the same people donating money to Nigerian prince email scams. If we run it back it’s clear the ownership has zero respect for the fans or the local community.

Matt Ishbia inherited a company his father founded

to his credit, he made it much larger than it was -- but still

im not defending Bidwill here -- but for good reason I am not ready to declare Matt I a "good owner".
Sorry but anyone who got a mortgage company through the GFC unscathed let alone grew said business from a regional lender to a Fortune 500 company during that time has a pretty damn good business acumen.

Dude swung and miss on Brad Beal yes (a trade we gave up nothing for btw). But at least he keeps swinging.

Why on Earth would we want to bring back someone who's had a losing record all 3 seasons they've been our head coach, never had a top 10 scoring defense in 3 seasons despite having a defensive coaching background, and had a losing record in one-score games every season they've been the head coach? :bang: :help:
