Remember when Monti was planning to go into the season with Colt McCoy as his QB1, realized he sucked way too late, and traded for a guy who put up an 81.2 passer rating as a starter that season?

There have been signs since the beginning.
Remember the owner who leaked stuff to the media trying to promote same washed up Colt McCoy as being better than Kyler? Same playbook this year with Brissett however the powers that be actually swung the axe.

I’m a Monti critic, but I 100% believe this was forced by Michael. I bet that Colt McCoy was the first player the Arizona Cardinals paid not to play for them.

Matt Ishbia inherited a company his father founded

to his credit, he made it much larger than it was -- but still

im not defending Bidwill here -- but for good reason I am not ready to declare Matt I a "good owner".

I am a pretty severe Ishbia critic, he's been reactive and extremely short sighted, however, he's clearly got a passion to win, above everything else, he wants to win... so far... to a fault he's wasted hundreds of millions hiring, firing, terrible trades. His first few years his impatience and financial foolishness did a huge amount of damage. But... it was, undoubtedly, fueled by his intense desire to win.

I can't paint Mike in a frame of "above all else, he wants to win, even to a fault!".

Ishbia has more in common with Jerry Jones, a spend all, over involved, ego-maniac. While Michael Bidwill is... a Bidwill.

I never said injuries in year 1 are an excuse, what I said is in year 1 he may deserve the benefit of the doubt, he hasn't established a pattern yet of suckage yet. Year 3 and Gannon has experienced ZERO success in his tenure, none, he does not deserve any leeway for injuries, he deserves to be unemployed. I don't care about injuries, I care about results and he is 20 games below .500 after 3 years! Again the Cardinals in their entire history have lost 13 games FIVE times---2 of those are under Gannon! The Cardinals have only given up 450 points or more in a season 3 times--2 of them were with Gannon as head coach! Defense is supposed to be his area of expertise and the team is awful on defense.

As for schemes, it doesn't matter if your situational play-calling is awful.

If he comes back we will still be stuck in 4th place again, with no hope in sight--that's about guaranteed. If we replace him, we will probably still be in 4th place next season but we MIGHT get lucky and make a great hire (like we did with Arians) and have a something to look forward to. Bringing Gannon back for year 4 just delays his inevitable firing by a season--sure we may slog from 3-14 to 7-10 or so, but big deal.
We can all like JG as much as as we want on a personal level and want him to succeed, but we all know what the definition of insanity is…Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is…well, you get it.

To your point, changing nothing ensures another 4th place finish. Making a new hire at least gives us a chance.

I have to imagine the folks who keep giving the Gonti combo a pass because of injuries aren’t Cardinals and Suns fans because you need look no further than downtown Phoenix to see how great coaching and actual depth and REAL CULTURE can create lemonade when the world hands you lemons.

This Cardinals team was predicted by many here to finally be able to compete in the division and go to the playoffs after a three year slow as molasses rebuild and then just stunk right out of the gate even before injuries started giving them excuses to flat out start quitting in games.

Meanwhile, the Suns gutted their team, went with a youth movement, got rid of one of the best players in the league and brought in a new coach who made a commitment to playing just flat out harder than everyone every night… oh… and were predicted to be one of the worst teams in the league. And even though they’ve suffered a RASH of injuries all season, despite all of the above… they’re 19-13, gunning for the sixth spot in the West playoffs and bring their energy and intensity to the game no matter who’s on the floor and who’s in street clothes.

In less than three months the Suns completely changed their culture. Gonti hasn’t changed jack squat in THREE YEARS.
Yeah the Suns resurgence has further cemented the idea in my head that coaching plays a huge part in a team’s success. I’m pretty much done with the Cardinals until major changes have been made to the team. Life is too short to waste it on a crap product on the field.

With an aggressive off season in free agency we can at least be competitive.
We need to sign two quality o - linemen, a Wr and hopefully one of the many rb’s available.
If this team is banking on Connor, Benson , Will Hernandez nothing will change.
As far as Wr, MHJ is a #3 until he proves otherwise.

Is that a lot? Yes. Can it be done? Yes.
Will it be done? No.

I listened to this podcast yesterday afternoon. They put Gannon in the 50/50 category, which is crazy considering the run they’re on.

I assume Bidwill wants to keep Gannon and it would take someone getting in front of him and shaking some sense into him to get him untracked.

Don’t read it, move forward and/or don’t comment. Simple.

Jim Bob Cooter, being any kind of coach, on an Arizona sports team sinking ship like the 2026 Gonti Intact Cardinals, seems like a match made from the Gods.

I like Indy's offense this year. Who had Daniel Jones in the MVP conversation, which he was, until he got injured?

Buddy Lamar Jackson isn’t walking through that door. We’re gonna be dumpster-diving for QBs for a moment here.

I’d much rather swap third round selections for Richardson at $1.1MM than pay Malik Willis 20x that.
Why? You sound like you’ve been hanging around with Bidwill.

Because they’re equally likely to play starter-caliber ball in the next two years, and the guy with the $1.1MM salary is going to free up a ton of resources to strengthen the rest of the team?

That should be pretty obvious.
