I don't believe Gannon ever wanted Kyler. I trust nothing out of his mouth, and his behavior as soon as he walked in the building screamed snake. (pew, pew, you're fast. etc.) He and his staff haven't helped him one iota, and if he's fired with no opportunity to coach HIS guy, it will be his legacy as a coach. Although I believe SOME team out there will buy his act.
So why did Gannon take the job?

It’s as simple as:

“Gannon wanted to work with Kyler & thought he had a franchise QB he could turn around & get back to playing great ball, but that clearly hasn’t happened so he’s ready to move on”.

This is what I believe but I don’t think he’s earned that opportunity. He still has time tho.

All's fair when you blatantly misquote me. I am still waiting for you to address the major issues I have pointed out. You might say he has his flaws, but you're more than willing to live with them.

Tell me, if he continues coaching scared and having his coordinators coach scared, and our slide continues to a horrendous losing record, will your opinion change or will you still want the guy back? Because it is undeniable that he is not doing a good coaching job atm.
I don't want Monti to get to select another HC so as long as Monti stays, Gannon stays imo. I am already disenchanted with this team so I would rather two more years of misery with Monti and Gannon then firing Gannon and guarantee another three years of Monti with a new coach he selects.

now that is the darkest timeline. well done.
This is the thing: the more we lose now, the more likely it is that everyone keeps their jobs. This probably isn’t a four-win team. It’s probably a seven-win team. But if we start 2-6 it means we finish 5-4 down the stretch and people feel fake momentum.

Gotta scatter some wins in or the wheels have to fall off completely.

I agree. Not a Monti fan at all.
He reminds me of the Wilkes hire. They talk in cliches and sound good but have no substance.
I remember after seeing Wilkes's initial presser. I said they just hired Coach Boone from Remember the Titans.
It was all prepped speech talk.

Monti is the same way.

This argument doesn’t really fly to me. Kyle Shanahan went to the Super Bowl with Jimmy G.

Sean McDermott went to the playoffs his first year with Tyrod Taylor.

Jim Harbaugh went to 3 straight NFC Championship games with Colin Kaepernick.

Mike McDonald won 10 games in his first season last year with Geno Smith at the helm.

Good coaches just win. Obviously talent helps a lot but the good ones find a way to scheme it up and create culture.

I'm not ready to just blatantly give up and live through two lame duck years. Clean the damn house and start fresh with a new GM, Coach, and QB.

I'm leaning towards just a new QB. We've got a guy back there you can't win anything significant with.
Obviously, it could be worse, but the standard should be playoffs.

Speaking of playoffs, let's look at Kyler's 1 playoff performance. It was embarrassing.

This is how you get on the Bears/Jets QB treadmill.

I feel we need to start with Petzing… he goes first. Then, hire the best OC possible and Bidwill needs to throw money at him to get the right guy. Depending on where we land in the draft, I position ourselves to rid ourselves of Murray (we will be drafting low enough to get one of the top 2 or 3 QBs). Keep Brissett to work with the OC and if Brissett falters, go with the young guy. This is a one year turnaround at most! The defense should be good enough to keep us competitive. If not, let JG go and promote the OC to HC.

Yeah, but then if Gannon isn't the guy, you're stuck with him for several more seasons. It's not like he's an offensive guru. He's a defensive guy. He's not going to be a big positive to help a young QB.

IDK. If Gannon is as patient with a young QB as he is with Kyler...might be perfect.

Ultimately, I probably need to back out of this thread until much later in the season to determine who else other than Murray is gone after the season.
