2024 Draft Update

MHJ - Barring a miracle, he will fall short of 1,000 yards in each of his first two seasons.

DRob - We are currently debating if he can be as good as renowned semi-bust LJ Collier

Melton - Still looking for his first INT, and his missed tackle rate increased to 18.4% this season.

Benson - He has twice as many trips to the IR as he does TDs.

Adams - Already benched for performance. Playing out of pure necessity now.

Tip - Probably the best 3rd rounder from this draft class, and he has a career 55 yards receiving.

Elijah Jones - Still hasn't played a defensive snap. He will be 26 next month.

DTD - Was playing well before the injury. Should be a solid starter at worst next year.

Xavier Thomas - On Texans PS.

Christian Jones - Has played 74 offensive snaps in almost two years.

Tijuana Palmer - On PS. 0 career catches.

Jaden Davis - On PS. 0 career snaps. Will be 25 next season.

If this is Monti's defining draft class, he is the definition of a very poor drafter.
MHJ is on a 1000+ yard pace if he played all 17 games though.

think about this... we're looking at a second season from Harrison where he might not even produce ONE 100 yard recieving game and only two games over 71 yards receiving.

dude hasn't even had ONE 100 yard game all season. Even in the games he's played he's only had TWO games over 71 yards recieving. This is a second year guy drafted 4th in the first round of a loaded WR draft. That's pretty pathetic.

Are you kiddin' me? I hadn't even noticed. Been too irritated with every other facet of Cardinals football to even realize this.

Another Cardinals castoff that actually was good.

I literally said the exact same thing this morning. And Bowles is as even keeled as it gets. He was just disgusted enough to voice it forcibly and definitively, something our HC seems incapable of doing.

in my latest version of "Mike has to hire a President of Football" to gain credibility:

Hire Bruce Arians as the President of Football. Let him pick the GM and Coach. Sit back and count the wins...

Pros: He knows Mike and can deal with him. Instant credibility with the fans.

Cons: He is 74. He knows Mike.

This whole "let Gannon and Monti try with a new QB" rhetoric is so baffling to me. I don't want to see Brissett start another year, but I also don't see him as the major factor in this losing streak. Steve Wilks got 2 division wins with Josh Rosen at QB. Gannon has 0 division wins this year with 2 better QBs. It's all just an excuse for Bidwill not wanting to spend more money to cover up yet another of his mistakes.

Yeah, Brissett is not the major factor in this losing streak. But his career speaks for itself. He has played longer than Murray, has had multiple chances to start and has a 39-58 w-l record as a starter. Murray is 38-48-1.

That is the bottom line, right?

He is just good enough to lose close games. But at least they are close? He is not like Warner or Palmer because they actually had great success before they came to Arizona.

And if Brissett is going to be the QB, and the coaches deserve a chance with a different QB, isn't 12 games a chance?

If we rehire Gannon I am absolutely not getting tickets next year. It will be a complete waste of money. Well, we have a good home schedule next year to make money selling tickets to enemy fans. That will be the only reason for most people to keep their tickets

Monti and JG already did try with a non-Murray quarterback, Brissett, that they chose. The team's likely to finish 2-10 with Brissett as the starting quarterback. Sot this season can't be blamed mainly on Murray. The main blame for the season falls on JG and the rest of his coaching staff.
The try with a new quarterback quarterback rhetoric is just trying to cast the blame for the season on someone other than JG and Monti.

Fair enough. No link, just obvious deductive reasoning that Arains “retired” and was back in the league two years later. The cards sought no draft pick compensation from Tampa.
My deductive reasoning leads me from the fact that Arians was loud and clear that he was "refired" by the Steelers, but has never hinted at anything of the sort by the Cardinals, to the conclusion that this is a conspiracy theory with zero substance.

He has publicly explained his reasons for retiring and for un-retiring many times. It's easy to believe that Bidwill is culpable for yet another colossal blunder - and maybe it's fun to keep pushing the conspiracy theory - but it simply makes a lot more sense that between his health issues, lack of family time, and not wanting to go through a rebuild with a rookie QB (after failing to land Mahomes) in a dysfunctional organization, he decided to hang it up with the Cardinals.

Great post!

The big problem for MO/JG is I don't see how they upgrade the QB position unless they mortgage our future by trading up.

Even then you've got a rookie starting which is gamble at best.

Or they bring in someone like Mac Jones. Didn't both Jones and Brissett wash out in New England? Again, it's super big gamble hoping we can keep the momentum going for a guy like Jones.

I know it's impossible now, but I honestly think MO and JGs best chance to keep their jobs in 2026 was (emphasis on was) to run it back with K1, and to try to build around him.

The cap room not wasted by keeping him could have been used to add pieces to the O.

But I guess MO and JG are playing 3D chess. Making all the right moves, and pulling all the right strings. I guess they think they handled the Kyler Murray issue magnificently.

Something tells me they will find a way to bring Kirk Cousins here, which will lead to a summer full of Palmer and Warner comparisons from local media. I thoroughly hate the idea, but it seems like the most likely scenario to me.
