Still agree to disagree. Maybe one day he'll completely change who he is and go for the gold ring and more wealth, but for now everything he has shown shows that he values his family and having them grow up where he grew up and having them go to school where he went to school, etc. He loved his life growing up here and wants to raise his family in that same place. And if that means more to him than cashing in and coaching at some "legendary" schools - who are we to judge. Maybe he wants to be the BEST coach Arizona State has ever had rather than just another coach at Michigan or Alabama, etc.
God bless you. I think this is just incredibly naive.

Dunno where you got that, but you got it backwards. They had the easiest schedule so far, but the hardest from here on out. The only teams on their schedule with losing records are the 2-3 Texans, who seem to be playing better lately, and the 2-3 Bengals, who should have Burrow back.

They already botched the easy part of their schedule.
Interesting. It was espn quoting some metric called FPI.

Overall, we had one of the leagues easiest 2025 schedules based on last seasons record...
But honestly that all flies out the window once first shots are fired...
By January we may find that our first five weeks were really hard and the last 10 weeks fairly easy....much of that will be determined by if we win or lose.

We already know that this team can compete with any team in the league. What we need is for them to figure out how to close out games. How to crush an opponent when they have a boot on a neck.

If they don't figure that out, no matter who we play we are just gonna lose by a score...or win by a score

Or you're just incredibly jaded.
No, just realistic.

The guy already got to coach at his Alma mater and raise the program. He’s accomplished that goal. Most ambitious people keep raising the bar for themselves. And most people in relatively short-lived professions understand the need to maximize opportunity. Dilly strikes me as both ambitious and smart enough to recognize that he shouldn’t sell his earning power short.

Yeah there you go again.
Earning power.
That's just not important to some people. Maybe the guy has different priorities. I did...still do in fact.

Exactly. Family means a lot to Dilly. He is not going to be Jimmy Johnson, get an NFL job and kick his wife to the curb and tell her he no longer needs her. Different things motivate different people.

So you're actually saying they can lose narrowly to any team in the league.
I never said they were gonna win them all.
But they are talented enough and coached well enough to be competitive against anybody.

I mean, we both know if they continue to be in these 1 score games they are gonna lose more than they win. We just don't have enough guys with that clutch factor.

But against anybody they are fully capable of hanging around, staying in the game, and if a really good team makes a mistake we can use that to beat them.

This ain't the Cardinals of yonder year who get down by 2 scores early, play chase the entire game, then maybe add a couple garbage time scores to pull within 10.
These guys are competitive..that has proven out on the field the last couple seasons

Ben Allbright said there is no way JG is getting fired.

Keep an eye on Wes Phillips (Vikings), Arthur Smith or Kevin Stefanski as potential OC candidates if things dont turn around for Drew.

Kyler gone as well if things dont get better.
Petzing came to the Cards after coaching under Stefanski. No thanks.

2-15 is a distinct possibility - particularly with the insane play calling and KM at QB. Only four more games until we're in the second half of the season, and we all know how well the Cards (and KM) do in the second half of recent seasons.

I don't want to get into a pissing contest with any one on the Board. I would like to be optimistic but this team has been playing horrible against crapy teams. I also don't feel that they have a lot of talent especially on the offense and the coaching staff has been terrible. I have had season tickets for almost 30 years in the Club section (which isn't cheap!) and really feel that it is time to give them up. The changes Bidwill has made to the stadium are all associated with making more money and catering to the rich. I could go on but the bottom line is that I am getting no enjoyment gong to the games. The drive home is very depressing.

Oh it is. With this squad anything is possible.
Except consistency

we had a 3rd and 8 in the first quarter - kyler tried to audible then called time out eventually running it in himself

then again later in the game same thing - third abd 8 - I think kyler audibled or just took off but he got the first

I think it's certain plays. Petzing literally said on the 3rd and 8 on our last drive Kyler could not audible out of the play. He said there are certain plays we call where we think we can catch them and pop one and that was one of those calls so Kyler couldn't change it.

Petzing and Gannon operate with a lead the way Ben Howland did at UCLA, we'd be up 14 points and Ben would just do the math if we run most of the shot clock down every trip without turnovers or fouls they simply don't have enough time to get enough possessions to overcome the score. It usually worked but it was boring as hell.

The problem we have now is Conner is out, last game after the bad snap Kyler didn't run once so the 2 guys who generally are able to combine to get us 1-2 first downs to run down the clock were not in there and we couldn't do it.

Petzing as much as any OC I can recall here is dependent on getting good yardage on first down, and we're not doing it

I'm not familiar with Phillips, but I'd be psyched to have the O.C. under Kevin O'Connell, son of Wade and grandson of Bum, come to the Cardinals. But, he'd be a replacement for Gannon, not Petzing, eh?

Stefanski is a 2-time AP Coach of the Year who could presumably adapt and improve the current offense. But it's a bit concerning that he didn't succeed with Baker Mayfield.

2-8 in our last 10 games says we really can't.

How do you close out games with an ultra conservative offense built upon a power running attack supplemented by a game manager QB whose most important job is not to turn it over?

Look at our personnel! Our run blocking is some of the worst in the NFL, our power runner has been on fumes for awhile, and our solution appears to be a 3rd down back at this point. We can't run because we don't have the personnel, and teams are keying on the run.

The QB mismatch is most hilarious. Paying any QB 50M per year to run a Petzig run offense is crazy. It's an awful fit and always has been. Kyler has shown little ability to run any NFL offense. Even limiting him to dumpoffs and checkdowns hasn't stopped Kyler from turning it over, often at the most inopportune times.

At this point, running the ball effectively seems like a pipe dream. It's time to open the offense up and see if Kyler can make this his team. In seven years, I can't remember one moment where I felt that way.

Your lack of vocabulary does not change the truth.
We can be competitive in every game yet still lose them all.
Stop giving the Who of A people ammunition.

Ben said Phillips wants to prove himself as a play caller and not just a guy who gameplans for KOC.
He would be JG's new OC assuming they dont keep Petzing.
