Draft Question unanswered

If the Vikings screwed up and time ran out on their pick, why wasn't the pick just taken away from them? I mean, if they cannot get their act together in the time allotted, I cannot understand why they suddenly got to choose at #9 or however that worked.

An answer would be VERY appreciated.

You never forfeit a pick, you simply "pass" if you run out of time.

So "passing" at #7 just means that the next team jumps up and the vikings got #8. And then #9, and so on.

Do you think the Vikings did it on purpose? Or was it really just a matter of miscommunication?
