the question i ask regarding both Monti and Gannon / staff:

what can you really count on changing next year? What has he learned in year 3 that he didn't learn in years 1 and 2?

on defense, we have seen a total lack of pressure, yet for the most part the defense is rush 4 play zone behind it. Why would we assume that it would change next year if it hasn't this year?

We have seen Petzing throw more -- but is that a function of no healthy RBs? Is there any guarantee that with healthy RBs the offense doesnt revert to the ultra safe offense we saw earlier?

Here is something interesting I realized today...

This is the resume of the Cardinals LB coach Cristian Garcia

Cristian Garcia Coaching Breakdown
Year Team Position

2018–19 UNLV Graduate Assistant
2020 Georgia Tech Graduate Assistant
2021 Washington Commanders Defensive Assistant
2022 Washington Commanders Defensive Quality Control
2023 Washington Commanders Assistant Defensive Backs/Nickels
2024 Dallas Cowboys Assistant Defensive Backs/Quality Control
2025– ARIZONA CARDINALS Linebackers

I guess not a shock our ILBs are struggling.

So the reason we are third in the league in missed tackles is because of the rule? Why is it disproportionately affecting this team?

This guy is such a clown. I am so sick of the no accountability show he is running.

I’m pretty sure the rules apply to the other 31 teams?

Get Coach Kendall Roy off the sidelines. He’s a joke as is Mensa Monti who not only hired him, but did so illegally and was forced to give up Day 2 draft compensation to hire the worst coach of the 2022 off-season.

I liked Gannon in the beginning and believed in what he was selling. He clearly plateaued early and has been proven to be way in over his head. Monti really hasn't shown anything ever. He's had a couple good draft picks, but the majority have been bad to really bad. He's had a couple good FA acquisitions, but the majority have been bad to really bad.

We had a clear choice at the time - either go all in on Payton, the established coach, or to once again troll the bargain bin for the young up and comer. Once again, we went the cheap route on both GM and head coach, and our results are the worst of any other team that was bad at the time.

You're all missing the big picture...
Yes, the coaching staff owns some of the responsibility for a poor season but, who's truly to blame??

CONNER!!...The Butterfly Effect
Conner gets hurt....
Benson gets hurt because now he's got to run the ball
The defense has several injuries because they have to play more downs because the offense isn't on the field
Demercado doesn't drop the ball at the 1 inch line because he wouldn't have been in
Murray takes a ball to the face, hurts his foot and is out for the season
MHJ is sooo upset with the way the team is playing he ends up with appendicitis
Jones doesn't tear his Achilles because we would be running for the TD, not passing
Demercado wouldn't get hurt
Knight wouldn't have gotten hurt
We wouldn't have had 17 penalties in a single game
We wouldn't have opened the 40 burger restaurant chain

And the biggest effect...I wouldn't still have all these blue pills just sitting there...mocking me!

You can tell yourself Gannon learned a lesson with the new hires. Our DL and OL coaches were replaced and both units (the two most important units) heavily regressed. The new coaches were a complete disaster. That is what sunk 2025. If Gannon sticks around the onboarding process, interview/vetting process for new coaches will improved.

I dont think our blitz rate is an issue, we are middle of the pack in blitz rate, and our defensive scheme has been constantly praised around the league by opposing QBs/coaches. Rushing 4 and playing zone describes 3/4ths of the league. There are a few teams who have elite corners that can play man and blitz a ton, or dinosaurs like Tomlin/Bowles who do it anyways and get terrible results. A blitz that gets spotted pre-snap is an automatic first down for a good QB, you don't want to blitz too often.

I'd argue that the issues with the offense in 2024 wasn't that we ran too much, it's that our QB couldnt comfortably throw to 2/3s of the field, loved checkdowns, and would audible into runs on 3rd and long (Kyler hasnt converted a 3rd and 15+ through the air since 2021). This year the issue with the offense was for some reason our players forgot how to run block, and without the credible threat of a run, pass rushers could tee off on our OL.

Regardless, if Gannon stays I think its likely Bidwill forces him to fire one or both coordinators. I'm sure you can sell yourself on those changes making a difference.

So the defensive backs coach, Patrick Toney, is leaving.

The defensive line coach Winston DeLattiboudere III is leaving.

That leaves OLB coach Matt Feeney, LB coach Cristian Garcia, CB coach Ryan Smith, and two quality control peeps for the defense.

Not great if Gannon is being brought back. This staff is comically inexperienced and understaffed.

The Cardinals spent almost every cap dollar and draft pick on defense this offseason. The result?Defensive EPA/play: 25th in NFL
Yards allowed: 26th in NFL
Points allowed: 27th in NFL

WHY IS IT A FOREGONE CONCLUSION THAT MONTI IS COMING BACK?!?

Because of ownership

The Pats, Bears, and Broncos have turned their teams around with new coaches and the Cards are busy wondering if they should keep a guy who is having the worst season in Cards history.

The great state of Arizona deserves better than the Bidwillians and the Cardinals.

Here’s my question… most first year QB seasons are a really rough go of it for any head coach. Are the expectations if Gannon is kept that he needs to win big with a rookie QB? I mean, that’s just completely unrealistic/setting him up to fail or does getting a rookie QB then give him another year of excuses why the team likely sucks in year 4?

We just saw this exact same thing play out with the Giants. Why in the world would we follow their atrocious playbook?

And the Bears the year before. This team, man.
