Except that if Houston's pick would have been #1 overall, it is an awesome trade. Even if you include Anderson and how good he is.

So again, unless you KNEW what Houston's pick would be, it's impossible to judge the trade fairly.
Well, they didn't. I thought it was a bad idea beforehand, as did others, and it's a bad deal after the fact. That leaves hindsight out of the discussion.

Dude… don’t bother. You’re talking to someone who time and time again has shown the inability to understand what foresight means.

If you thought staying put and taking the game wrecking Anderson was the right choice and worth not taking the risk on magic beans, that’s foresight.

Monti hasn’t done a whole lot right. Even if they picked Anderson Jalen Carter or all pro Darnell Wright, the player would have failed because of the rest of the culture of fail.

This is a hard warning. Knock it off.

Sure, they could have thought it was a bad idea, but then the Houston pick could have been #1 and they would have been wrong. It's quite simple.

Do people think DRob can ever be good?
Is DRob your benchmark for trading down because the instead of the pick being top 5, it ended up being 27 and not a good player?

Just wondering if the hInDsGht changes if we look at the other consequences of trading with Houston

Well, they did give us DHop, so there's that...

So, sorry, but I had foresight, as did others. You don't like it (stick or twist, it doesn't matter), but that is a matter of fact. Very simple. Anything else is just wasting breath (key strokes).

I’m open to the possibility. One of the most important parts of a player’s development is training camp. What can occur during the year is never as thorough or intense. I’m not certain Robinson ever had a truly healthy training camp. Also he looked much better when playing alongside Nolen. Sadly he won’t do the latter most of next year even if things go well. Year three has always been the decisive year in my mind.

Pull some mock draft from right after the 2023 drafts. They universally have the Texans picking in the top 10, some in the top 5 as I recall.
When the Texans started out 0-2 that year (lost to Anthony Richardson) we were all talking about having two picks in the top-5. Monti looked like genius temporarily.

Don’t trade. We could literally throw a dart and that player will start next year.
I laugh at “ He’s not worth the 3rd pick” because of national rankings. So much depends on where a player ends up and the situation. There are always players drafted 10th, 20th and later that succeed. Guys like Calais, Docket, Dansby are good examples and anybody drafting them in the first round would have been ridiculed.
I believe if MHJ was drafted by somebody else he would be better.

Theres REALLY no gaurantee that any player drafted is a sure thing.

The thing that makes me want to trade #3 is that IMO we have to get more firepower to make a trade for a QB in the draft next year.

Everyone is under the impression the 27 draft will be better for QBs...but we cannot guarantee...and with our horrible luck...we will not be sitting at #3 with a chance to get whomever we want.

We need to assume we will be in the 8-12 range next year, and will need to be able to trade up to get the guy we want. An extra 27 first round pick helps a lot.

We don't want to draft a QB in 27 and have to gut the entire 27 and 28 drafts in order to get our guy...we will be dooming him to failure.

Trade down once or twice for picks in the 2027 draft,
I am good if our first round pick is any of the following, they all make our team better.
Reese, Bain, Tate, Tyson, Proctor, Fano, Mulaga Baily, love, downs

After many discussions I am convinced if the Cards want one of the top 2 RT prospects, they can trade down in the top 10 and still get one.
Would reinforce Monti being an idiot and not learning from past mistakes. I hope you are wrong and/or something changes.

I'm with you. Stick and pick. It would be prime Monti if he wants the MauoIcan'tspellhisnamega, trades back, and loses out on him anyway. At this point, if we can't convince the Raiders to trade with us, stick and take a top Edge.

I mean...of course there is a price where you make a move and if that ends up being so substantial that you can't turn it down, fine. IMO, that is an unlikely scenario. This team is desperate for game changing players. Passing on one of those to move back for a good, not great, RT is ignorant. This team could not pressure the QB at the end of games without Walter Nolen or Calais Campbell. Josh Sweat had a nice season, but his ceiling is a good 2nd tier EDGE. To pass on Bailey or even Reese in a less talented draft year would be an incredibly poor decision to go along with his numerous other poor decisions.
