This just excuses the pathetic amounts of ineptitude we've had to endure with the many bad HCs and GMs.
And who has hired those bad GM’s and HC’s that you speak of? When a franchise has been pathetic for almost a century, we’re well past wondering where the problem is. The fish rots from the head down is a perfectly accurate ancient proverb when applied to the Bidwill family.

Your post made me laugh. I have been at it almost as long (1967) and have also had backup teams once the Cardinals have been eliminated and many years I needed a backup to the backup since my normal backup was Cincinnati since they are my son's team. As a kid he just loved those Bengal helmets.
Until ownership changes or somehow the reputation of this moribund franchise changes, a top notch HC or GM will never roam the halls of Cardinal land.
Agree 100% lol. You definitely need a backup to a backup! In the earlier days, I always loved the old Raiders when Madden was the HC. After the Immaculate Reception wrongfully knocked out Raiders, that’s when I started hating the Steelers. I root for anyone playing the Steelers lol. I remember liking the Rams under Roman Gabriel, the Packers during the Favre era, the Bengals when Anderson was the QB. The Cardinals were always my #1, with everyone else being 2A, 2B, 2C. It was truly the only way to keep your sanity.

I just can’t.

Do you know how damn dumb you need to be to have any kind of hope for this franchise. Become? Dude Simeon Rice called this the arm pit of the NFL 26 years ago and so far out of those 26 years 19 were non winning seasons.

That’s just from 2000 hell let’s talk about 88-1999. Gee wonder how many winning seasons. Must of had some success right. NOPE out of those 12 years 11 were non winning seasons.

So what like 37 years in the valley and something like 7-30 winning record with no signs of winning in the near future.

Grow up. I’m sorry but this hasn’t “become” Mudville this always has been. We have the worst ownership group in all of sports. They continue to spit in our faces year after year and people still line up to give them money.

Not sure it's ownership. When your first round picks get hurt year after year and you fumble on the goal line. It's a curse they need the change the name dig up Bills body and burn it.

The Arizona Cardinals to Arizona "dig up Bills body and burn it"

those links go nowhere.
Just like the Cards? (Sorry. You teed that one up.)

I too look at the NFC West. Geez, wtf? Cards are going to have to draft better. That's the only way. Trades, maybe. Free agents not looking to come here as Harry says.

I just look back at the start. Most of us in AZ at the time wanted to wait for a new franchise, even though it wasn't guaranteed to come here. It seems like everything got off on the wrong foot to start. You can only control the future. Here's hoping it's brighter!

We can blame MO for our current dilemma, however, the contract Murray received set this franchise back 4 years. We’d be in a different place had Murray lived up to his contract.

“Poor Mikey” wasn’t about to and/or couldn’t and/or wouldn’t eat that cap hit.

That contract for many reasons continues to haunt to this day. No matter who we would have hired things would not be any different to based on how Bidwill runs this team.

The Dolphins just ate a contract larger than Kyler's. The Cardinals just didn't have the conviction and confidence to move on from Kyler.

Bidwill is a problem. Everyone knows this. That said, Monti is not making good moves which is a level of ineptitude independent of Bidwill. That makes him a problem. Kyler did not have the ability to overcome a dysfunctional franchise. He was also a draft outlier in terms of size and college starting experience. He was given a contract he wasn't able to live up to. Kyler's contract was more of a problem than his play. But as I said earlier, the Cardinals never had the conviction to move on from that deal nor could they draft, sign, trade or develop enough talent around Kyler to mitigate it.

I don't understand when people make excuses for this franchise. A good owner could have avoided the Kyler contract situation. Bidwill isn't that. A good GM could have built a roster that could have mitigated the Kyler contract. Monti isn't that. We will see if MLF can overcome these two. I don't know if he can, but I feel he has an uphill struggle ahead of him and we will see. If he is blundering coaching decisions, that's on him. If he can't develop players, well, neither could Gannon which makes me think it is a GM issue.
