1. Please remember to read Jeff Gollin's weekly game work-ups on the Big Red Sheet. In my opinion, they are the best on the web.
http://azcardinal.com/

2. Watched Wake Forest beat Florida State last night. Don't know their names but Wake has 2 CBs and 1 safety who are NFL caliber starters right now.

3. I play in a high stakes NFL Survivor league every year. $100 to enter. After week 5, only 84 of us are still alive. This week, for the first time ever, I chose the Cardinals. If they win, I stay alive one more week. I wanted to take San Diego but I'm saving them in case I'm forced to choose a road team in the next few weeks.
Many players have chosen the Ravens this week. I could have too because they play the Rams. My gut told me to avoid that too-obvious trap game.

4. The gut also says Cowturds will beat the Patriots and it might be by double figures.

5. Redskins will not beat Green Bay. Why? The entire NFCE, except the cowscum, is overrated, with three ageing teams on the downside of their opportunity cycles, whose coaches are all on the downside of their careers.
Coughlan, Gibbs and Andy Reid are done. Toast. Road kill.
Green Bay is not very good, just good enough to beat the 'skins at Lambeau.

6. Somers' take this morning on the loss of Leinart is one I agree with. He thinks the loss of Leinart for the year is not a good thing for any conceivable reason. There is no upside to it. None. I concur and all of you know I'm not a Leinart apologist.
Matt's development will be severely ********, Warner's likelyhood of injury elevated from possible to probable and the Cardinals' chances of a winning season and playoff berth have been diminished.
What happens if Rattay is forced to play this week or next? He can't be ready. After the bye week, he will probably be caught up enough to play without making too many errors.

7. Wouldn't want to be Seattle this week. New Orleans might surprise them. I will watch that game with great interest, as many of you will, especially if we beat Carolina.

I believe you are underestimating how good the Redskins are. Campbell is growing rapidly. The D is playing very well...particularly the DBs.

I always disliked the G-men, but I am now happy to see them win a few games because they are doing it without Mr. Tiki. Yeah, his act can become stale after awhile, but he is weathering it well.

I totally agree with #6. I am tired of everyone saying, "well at least the better QB will play now". It will be a totally different ballgame now that teams know that there is only one really ready qb on the roster. They are gonna put everything into getting after Warner.

Someone asked me if I thought Rattay could play well enough this year to do well. My response was, "If we get to that point, the season is probably over anyway".

Matt going down is only better in the very short term: next three to five games or so, and only then if Warner stays on his feet

I'm with ya on Matty Skkorp. And even though I loved him coming out of college and expected big things this year only to be disappointed by his play, there's no upside to him being out IMO. Oh well, let's hope for health and riding Warner into a beautiful ending to his career!

Agree about Dallas beating NE, although I think it will be a nail-biter.

Love the BRS! Thanks for the effort Jeff!

4. The gut also says Cowturds will beat the Patriots and it might be by double figures.
The gut must be wrong as much as it's owner... :D

Patriots. The 'pukes 5-0 is possibly even more smoke and mirrors than New England's. Neither of them has beaten a team with a winning record! It's a joke that this contest is being billed as "the game of the century"! Please...

6. Somers' take this morning on the loss of Leinart is one I agree with. He thinks the loss of Leinart for the year is not a good thing for any conceivable reason. There is no upside to it. None. I concur and all of you know I'm not a Leinart apologist.

While I agree that the loss of Leinart is not a good thing, the one possible upside is that Rattay may surprise and develop into an above average QB. Rattay has never played on a good offense!

7. Wouldn't want to be Seattle this week. New Orleans might surprise them. I will watch that game with great interest, as many of you will, especially if we beat Carolina.
I believe New Orleans will pull the upset special this week!!! Go Saints!

I agree with you about there not being any good to be found with Matt going down. But I completely disagree with the idea that this teams chances at the playoffs have been deminished.

I completely agree with you on each and every point. There is nothing good about our young QB having to sit out a year.

I will add IF Warner can stay healthy into the middle of November I will be much more comfortable with Rattay if he needs to come into help the Cardinals.
Also, I like Rattay in our system. His arm is not his best quality but his accuracy is good enough to get the ball into the hands of Boldin and Fitzgerald. That being said Fitz, and Boldin will have to do a lot with the ball after the catch.
Right now we are not even close to full strength and that makes the Carolina game a lot tougher than it looks.

I watched this game as well and liked the WF corners alot especially the adjustments they made in the 2nd half against the much taller FSU WR.

Also, Q's little brother recovered the onside kick at the end of the game. I didn't know he played. He looked a bit shorter than Q. He is a redshirt jr. who sat out last season due to academics.

4. The gut also says Cowturds will beat the Patriots and it might be by double figures.

The Cowboys will not win this week. There opponents thus far have a record of 6-19. The Pats, like em or hate em, are a much better team and will cover the 6 pts.

I agree, but there is an upside. If we can continue to protect Warner , our offense can be lethal. Rattay's experience( within a couple of weeks) puts him on par with Leinart at this point. The situation is similar to what it would be had Whiz just named Warner the starter and benched Leinart. The year of sitting certainly didn't hurt Carson Palmer, so I don't agree with Leinarts development being SEVERELY ********.

2 sacks so far? That's shocking to me. Let's go Kurt.

I was wondering if anyone knows whether Elton Brown and Wells were taking snaps at R-tackle and/or left guard?

3. In my Low Stakes ($5) Survivor League, I took the Ravens. I hope I don't get trapped. If I do, I'll take solace in the fact that you may just win your league, Skorrp.

6. The only possible benefit I see is that sitting and learning could work out in matt's development. Back in the day, that's how it was done. Our last good QB was Lomax, and he sat for awhile behind Hart. But I'd rather Matt wasn't hurt. It doesn't help us this year at all.

I also believe that the Cowboys will beat New England.

As for Warner, he'll be just fine. Too much good Karma is flowing our way this year. Despite our injuries - look at us! - we're in first place. We will heal up and go deep into the playoffs.

Continue to disagree. The next two weeks will prove one of us wrong. Skins play Gbay, then us.

Whoa. I'm not with you on your interpretations of what I said. Leinart was playing badly. Everybody was coming hard after our QBs anyway. Starting Warner won't change any of that.

And, I really like Rattay. My guess is, give him four weeks and he'll be ready to play fairly well. The danger is that he may have to play as early as Sunday. In that case, we could lose enough games in a row, while he learns, to kill our season.

Leinart was our best hope on the roster for QBOF. He still is. Losing him is a setback in finding out if Matt can indeed play NFL football as a starter. Until we find out, this team, this coaching staff and our salary cap management are all held hostage.

eh, even if Warner were to get injured and we lost the next two, all's not lost. The NFC stinks to high heaven, as does our division and our schedule is mighty tasty in the second half with 5 home games and some very winnable roadies. The bye week couldn't have come at a better time as far as Rattay was concerned IMO and I agree, that if the O is back to health (which is damn better should be after the bye), he has enough weapons to be serviceable. Sunday's the big one though - we win there and we can afford a loss going into the break.

Skkorp - this high stakes survivor game you speak of - can I get in next year??

Sure. It's legal. Think it's run out of an Indian Casino in California. I've played for many years and they've always paid out all monies. The winner's take-all amount has varied from a high of $70,000 to as low as about $19,000. It just depends on how many people play each year.

I'll pm you the link.

Yup. And it was DE Peppers who was called out by his teammate for lack of effort. Since his great rookie year, Pepper's play has deteriorated badly.
