I like Jonathan Gannon. I appreciate some of his principles: He never publicly throws players under the bus. He never fails to accept responsibility. It would be easy in this situation to start assigning blame. He hasnt.

But its also clear he and his staff have no answers.

I dont see how anybody who had a hand in creating what will likely be the worst winning % season in franchise history (and that says something given their history) can keep their job.

We're reminded weekly of our suckage as we watch our whole division earn playoff births and thrive doing so. And here my dumb a** literally thought the West was "wide open" this year.
Don't feel bad. There's quite a few that thought we would be better this year

wow - shanahan rebuilt - improved the team to go 8-9 - then went 3-14 three different times?
Shanahan: After his 1st year he has had years of 4-12, 6-10, 6-11, with huge losing streaks at the end of the season. All of these bad years were driven by huge injury pileups.
McVay: 5-12 after the superbowl win. Again, huge injury pileup.

Is there a difference in your mind between 3 and 6 wins? We blew the doors off a tanking 49ers squad week 18 last year. Last years 49ers squad was losing 35-10 every other week.

You are incorrect. Two of our division mates have bottomed out in similar fashion and they did not fire their coaches at the bye. It was not "inexcusable."

There is absolutely a difference between 3 wins and 6 wins. That’s literally DOUBLE the amount of wins and one team is amongst the worst in the league if not THE worst team and one team is mediocre-below average.

i just can't put the names shanahan and gann...ganno.. gann.. in the same sentence
My point is this sort of season happens to the best organizations in the league with proven HOF coaches.

Do we hold it against Shanahan as a coach that he let Petzing put up 47 against him late last year in a blow out loss? That he got humiliated in 20+ points losses multiple times that season? No, because his best players weren't on the field. I haven't watched the Cardinals play since the Bucs game, this is just a lost season no matter who the coach is.

Gannon is not a proven commodity and is probably gone, but I'm not holding this season against him. With the amount of injuries this year our team could have been coached by McVay with Shanahan as OC and Mike Macdonald as DC and still finished last in the division.

oh - im holding this season against gannon - like big time essay - the defense that is supposed to be his specialty most of all - never took over playcall just took fake ass accountability - mistake after mistake - lost the confidence of the team - he's the demarcado of coaches

There is no excuse to be 3 wins bad. Andy Reid won 4 games one season and got fired for it.

A bad season for a good coach seems to be 5 or 6 wins with some very outlier exceptions.

Two sub 5 win seasons out of your first three without any above 500 pretty much tells you all you need to know. He is not a HC.

Okay!!!!!!! It was literally so simple!!!! Meanwhile, he's running back pick 6's in the SB and earning pro bowl nods! :bang:
Technically Cooper was not on the board when we picked in the 2nd. Now could we have picked him in the 1st over Darius? Great question, but probably too much hindsight initiated. Cooper wasn’t a 1st round pick before the draft, he quickly developed into a star.

We traded the 35th overall pick to move down for Melton. DeJean was selected 40th overall.
