maybe Mike B watching Will Anderson terrorize a MVP candidate will make him wonder if Monti is right the football mind to run the show

I’d take an elite pass rusher over an elite tackle, and Anderson is several tiers above PJJ at their respective positions regardless.
I dunno about “several tiers,” but even today I’d probably take PJJ and magic beans over Will Anderson.

And adequate OT is going to beat an elite edge most of the time.

I think there are good arguments to be made for an elite player at either position.

An example of the value of an elite tackle, from The Athletic today:
How valuable is Joe Alt? Los Angeles totaled just 135 yards last week (the fourth fewest in any game this season) against a Jacksonville defense that has struggled. Justin Herbert’s YPA has dropped from 7.9 with Alt on the field to 6.5 without him. Most strikingly, the Chargers’ EPA/pass also falls from first to 30th, and the sample continues to grow.

It’s bad news for Los Angeles’ receivers, as Herbert’s average depth of target declines.
Paris Johnson is not on Alt's level, but imagine how much worse the Cardinals would be on offense without him!

So is never having a head coach with a tenure of longer than 6 years. The team is 105 years old and has had an astounding 43 different head coaches.
But to just say keep the guy because you’ve never done so before is just not a smart enough strategy. Surely you understand that. Tell me you understand that, Brian. Should we have held onto McGinnis for 10 years just because we hadn’t done so before? That’s a really dumb baseline line of reasoning.

This season has been so frustrating. Three consecutive losses on last second fields goals. Three consecutive losses after leading in Q4. The routed in the last two.

If we just could have won the SF and TEN games, and then split with IND and GB BHCF... :(

So I get the anger and disappointment.

If we were far far away from being competitive, okay, fine, hit the eject button on JG. I don't think that's where were at though, the last two games not withstanding.
I’ll never understand this philosophy. Why would we ignore or not count the most performance in determining if we are competitive?

sometimes trades can work for both parties

I think PJJ is really, really good -- probably top 20% at his position but wont get the recognition because he plays for a bad team.

and: I cant blame Monti for making the trade. A first round pick from a team that just won 3 games and will be starting a rookie QB in the upcoming season?

9 out of 10 times that pick is no worse than top 10.

For anyone who still wants to defend Gannon with some kind of “the close games show he hasn’t lost the team”, I’ll counter that after 3 years, he’s yet to FIND his team.

You can’t lose something you’ve never found. Three years later, this team is actually as much a joke as it was when he took it over. That’s failure. Period.
