if we are looking for a pg we're probably looking to unload jalen or brooks or both? i mean we wanna start dunn right?

if we introduce a new pg to the line up it means either jalen or brooks or dunn isn't starting - because book and williams definitely are

Booker is the PG. Everyone just needs to realize it.

One thing for sure is the Suns were the first (and worst) to suffer the most pernicious object lessons of the "new-age CBA." We'll see if anyone else gets the whammy to the same or worse level than they did.

Of course, you can count on it that if league favored franchises like the Lakers, Knicks, Celtics, etc. start doing stupid things and get snagged in it, Silver will step in and it will get revised in a major way the very next offseason to free them from the noose.

Not only were the Suns the first to suffer the worst lesson of the new CBA, they made a couple of trades that were among the worst in their history in Beal and Durant.

It's in the past. Distant history! Let's take a look at what we have now.

Peanuts, loose change, some kiddos and unknowns. Looks like a James Jones roster, except for the size. No point guard or PF. Playoffs? Nah... I guess 30-35 wins.

The Suns roster now stands at 13 players as of this moment on July 16th, 2025.

They will need to add at least one more player to get to 14, the league minimum, probably by the season opener.

Suns normally carry a 15-man roster, but they may leave that vacant for a while.

Guards:

Devin Booker SG
Jalen Green SG
Grayson Allen SG
Collin Gillespie PG

Forwards:

Dillon Brooks SF
Oso Ighodoro PF
Rasheer Fleming PF
Royce O'Neale F
Ryan Dunn SF
Nigel Hayes-Davis PF

Centers:

Mark Williams C
Khaman Maluach C
Nick Richards C

Two-way contracts:

CJ Huntley F
Koby Brea G
Isaiah Livers F

Bobby Marks breaks down the buyout of Beal's contract. It should be a worthwhile watch.

Of course. He can opt out and be a free agent after the 2025-26 season. It's not our problem anymore. I'm happy about that.

It feels sort of like getting the Phoenix Suns back.
I think everyone is going to realize real quick Bradley Beal was not the problem.

That's not what it feels like to me.

It feels like more confirmation that management is stupid.

No he wasn't. But his contract was certainly one of the problems. I liked Beal the player, when he played, but that contract was literally crippling.

And pretty sure nobody has claimed that jettisoning Beal was going to magically solve our problems. So who is this "everyone" you speak of?

This team continues to be very stupid. This was not the only way to get out of the second apron. Kellan Olson just detailed four ways they could have done this without penalizing the future for the next five years.

How so? Are you complaining about the buyout when you are advocating for it before? What's so different now than from yesterday?
You want to show me where I was advocating for it before? That never happened.

I agree with that. I think most everyone here would agree with that. The big issue is that he is not the solution either. That is why he has to go.

that's where im at - it's not like we're going anywhere soon - could've toughed it out then turned the negative into a positive

Did he provide any details? How feasible were those other scenarios?

What scares me now is that we have the ability to use MLE, we’re going to continue to double down on the ReBook instead of rebuild plan and continue to throw good money after bad.

We could potentially use Allen and ONeal as 27M for trade and the MLE for another character, that would be 2 players out and 2 more in.

What does doubling down look like to you? At this point, in your opinion, what would you consider a good move vs a bad move? Keeping in mind the current situation with Book ain’t going to change…
