The Suns need his defense more than his offense IMO, although I would like both.

This is by far Beasley's best half with Phoenix. His shot selection needs improvement and he's not shooting particularly well but he's passed, screened, played defense (man and help), he's even gotten back on D a few times. One good half out of nine isn't anything to get excited about but maybe it's a sign of things to come.

We have solid big man play and decent point guard play. If we can get the wing scorers to step up, this would be a much better team.

Oh, Mayo is a much better player right now. I don't believe we chose Beasley over Mayo. If we'd been willing to give OJ a long term max/near max contract, he'd be in Phoenix IMO. I suspect we weren't willing to give him much more than Beasley received. If you were Mayo and were going to have to show the league what you're worth, wouldn't you rather do it playing for Cuban than Sarver? And Dallas had a lot more talent to put around him for a showcase also.

Best thing I like about this game is that Beasley is being aggressive. He's going to the FT line which is a great sign.

6 FT attempts for Beasley through just 3 QTRs.

If he can drive first shoot second every game then he can easily be the player that the Suns want him to be.
