Tony - I know where you're coming from and agree with most of what you have to say, but it would be unrealistic for us not to recognize that a number of front office and coaching decisions didn't work out this season and that there's every reason for fans to be upset.

At some point (most appropriately at the end of the regular season) there will be the expected "comprehensive review" of all aspects of the football team (both ugly and good).

At that time, we have every reason to expect (& lobby for) a process whereby the question is asked: "Who was responsible for Lousy Decision A, Lousy Decision B, Terrific Decision C etc.?" And, given this - Who should we listen to more, whose opinions should we respect less? Who should be fired, demoted, promoted etc.? What policies should be changed or expanded?

Personally, the two issues that disturb/puzzle me the most are (1) why the Leinart situation got out of control and was allowed to disintegrate the way it did and why we went into the season with no experienced QB to back up our iffy veteran? and (2) why our players make so many mistakes when they lose focus (i.e. why good techniques aren't drilled into them better, so that when they're tired and go into "robot-mode", their instincts are still sound)?

Bottom line - Cardinal ownership, management and coaches aren't bad guys, but mistakes were made and steps will need to be taken to make things right.

Hey! Big Tony....

Well said, my friend. Well, said. While this year has been disappointing I've come to see sports for what it is. Entertainment. Pure and simple. And like any movie we go to see, some we like and some we don't. The Cardinals' over the past few seasons have given me plenty to smile about. MY GOD!! We were in the Super Bowl!!! :D WE all dreamed but did we ever think we'd ever actually get there someday.

I agree w/you about Michael B. and I think he and Coach Whiz' will get this thing turned around. On a personal note, I think I remember reading awhile back about your wife passing. My heart & prayers go out to you. My mom's been gone 20+ years now and with the holidays here, well, loved ones are missed. BUT, the wonderful "memories" we shared make it feel like she's never really gone. Take Care, "Big Tony". Mark in SC. :D

Jeff I understand...But heres my point...Your the owner of the cards(or coach) something was up Matt..Don't know don't care...But he wasn't what this team wanted..or should I say direction...The Cardinals have the balls to make this decision...Would you agree or should we let a player like Brett Favre run this team..I like that they stood up and said no I dont think so..not today or tomorrow...In a way..I wish the Let matt play a few games under the regular schedule..and see what he could of done..IMO..Its like in the real world like me...You could give someone a million dollar education but they have a personality worth 5 dollars...I can sell water to a whale..but only have some college education...Thats ok..Matt had a million dollar football career..but his football sense was worth only a dollar..imo..

In life what comes up must come down
Wow, spoken like a true kool aide drinker. While I admire your loyalty, I must call into question the connection to reality. Like the above statement. What goes up must come down, eh? How do you explain teams like the Eagles who, since Andy Reid has been head coach(and if you guy think Whiz is getting a hard time from fans, Google 610 WiP and listen to the stream), the Eagles have had 2 losing seasons(his first and the year after their SB) and 1 .500 season. He's taken his team to 5 NFC title games. Even if they only won 1, they're in the hunt every year. He even took his team to the playoffs with Jeff Garcia at QB so with them, it's been more up than down.

Same with a team like, say, Minnesota. Since 1990 they've had 3 losing seasons(1990, 2001, 2006). Or the Giants, Patriots, Ravens, Steelers, Chargers, who more often than not are competitive. But this franchise, to say we've had more bad than good is an understatement. When you can go whole decades with nary a winning season or when you can count winning seasons per generation on 1 hand, someone is to blame and that someone is upper management/ownership. Now, I'm not getting all over Michael like I did his father because he's done a hell of a lot more to try to produce a winning product than his father but to not blame him for shortcomings is disingenuous. But to shrug off this season as 'what goes up must come down' reeks of Stepfordism.

We love Ya Big Tony but NJ is right. The Bidwill article pointed out that since moving to the Valley the Cards have had 10 five game or longer losing streaks. Wanting better than that as a fan isn't a bad thing.

And the weight of all those Badges of Honor from the 25,000 fan 5-11 days at SDS is wearing me out.

One thing I still don't understand is why complaining about a poor product is only a bad thing when it relates to Sports teams. For instance I've never had anyone tell me to quit crying when I talked about poor service or food at a restaurant. :D

I want to know what does playing at SDS have to do with continuous losing? One of the worst stadiums in the NFL was the old Vet in Philly yet they still put a competitive team on the field. Soldier Field was falling apart at one time and the Bears usually puts a competitive product on the field. And is there an older stadium(before the refit) than Lambaeu? And I'm not saying we have to have NE type success. Just put a competitive product on the field.

Tone- The overall issue goes way past Leinart, and the choice involving Favre is a false one (because it represents only one of many different hypothetical options open to the team).

You're right that, in most successful business operations, you must have the balls to be decisive and, if a decision doesn't pan out, you move onward.

But another aspect of well-run businesses is that they stare reality square in the face, figure out "what went right and what went wrong" and then take steps to repeat the right things and correct the wrong things.

Looking at things coldly and objectively - (a) we ended the season with Warner and Leinart and opened the season with Anderson and Hall (What is wrong with that picture?) (b) we lost Boldin but added 3 promising but inexperienced rookie receivers. (c) we lost Rolle but more than adequately replaced him with Rhodes. (d) we added Faneca and Hadnot to our O-line but have not yet seen a tangible upgrade in performance. (e) we lost pass rushers Berry, Okeafor and LaBoy and added one pretty good vocal leader in Joey Porter. (f) TE continues not to be a go-to position.

Finally, perhaps the most perplexing issue plaguing us is (g)that our very talented bunch of DB's tend to revert into "zombie mode", lose their focus and give up more plays over 20 yards than any other secondary in the NFL.

The 2 killer problems out of the bunch are the mediocre QB'ing and big plays in the secondary.

Like you, I don't want to play a game of "Who Struck John" but would rather "get things fixed." But if you don't recognize that things, in fact, do need fixing, you'll never be able to take the steps to fix them.

We are the fans, many of us have been so for 20...30,...40 years and more......we pay the bills, provide the revenue...we have an emotional investment in the team..................it is perfectly normal, and we are within our rightss, to complain vigorously when the team stinks up the field, or have suddenly turned in the wrong direction.
.
We should be so lucky to be like the Buffalo Bills,...I remember a stretch when they were the best team in football, and went to the Superbowl four years in a row.............I wouldnt complain too much about that kind of streak.

Pretty good?? NO.
Under coach wis the Cards have been an average team, that just happened to catch lightening in a bottle during a playoff run and it almost panned out in a win........

You're correct jeff..There was lots of new direction this year.I really think that coaches thought we had some stud wide receivers..I just think that Kurt was are savior..But the ownership and coaches had a lot of decisions that are not panning out..My opinion is we need a new def coach..That would be my case..I would love for them to get Rivera from San Diego if he is let go..Then I would take that top 5 pick and get a Quarter back..The guy from Auburn people are saying..and yes I agree a good tight end..I think ownership nows what going on..but this year was like a big Gamble for the.

How can you say don't cry in one breath and then tell people if you don't like it don't read it in the next. Sounds hypocritical to me. If you don't like people complaining, take your own advice and don't read it.
