I'm bored and done looking up draft status of these top FG kickers of all time. Of the top 29 kickers only 2 were drafted before rd 4, which is what I stated in a post a long time ago.

Also note that the Raiders "outstanding choice" of Janikowski resulted in the 39th best FG completion % of all time. Such a great pick by them :sarcasm:

So sick of this argument. Nobody drafts a kicker early when they can get an elite player. It's not about all the XXX you've all talked about. A kicker is only trotted out to the field once every so often. A LB or DE or QB or CB is on the field all the time. Constantly. So you pay them. I'm not going to pay a guy top dollar when he's only out there something less than 5% of the time. I'd honestly pay a punter before a FG kicker.

What happened to the language filter? This is the 2nd time that got through.

Was wondering the same thing myself, it's more than twice, it's been happening for a few days, I thought they changed the filter to be honest.

No its not. Its like roulette. You might get 10 reds in a row. then a green. Then 10 more reds. And then 3 blacks.

Its not linear.

That .4 might mean Roberto never misses a regular season FG in his entire career.

LOLLLOLLLLOOOLLLLL! Great take here!

So Chandler Catanzaro is in the top 10 of the FG % with 88.1% (would be even higher without that boched snap XD)

Aguero may possibly end up in the top 3 rounds of a 2016 redraft some day ... but never ever will be worth what they gave up for. For example over a season every 3.34% means 1 FG made more and since the % is not about how likely he will make the next one but about what he did you can only tell in retroprospective. Yes a 90% FG kicker is more likeley to make the next FG but only over a full season you will see probably a different outcome against a 86% guy and only twice against a 82% guy so ... even if aguero will be the Best Kicker in history, the next 20 guys will miss 2 FG more than him per season and that means probably 1 in a game that counts and 1 in one that doesn't but maybe you don't even get there in the first place without the good player drafted instead of the Kicker.

Even if this guy wasn't sucking big time a team shouldn't invest a 2nd rd pick on a FG kicker. Or a 3rd or a 4th. And NEVER give up extra draft picks to trade up for one.

Here is the history of kickers including punters who have been drafted in the last 10 years by round. If more than one position was drafted in a particular round it's noted by (#). Of the 37 kickers or punters selected in the draft in the last 10 years, 20 are still active on teams. If they are active I placed their name next to the year they were drafted. The rest are either listed as former players or FAs. As you can see only 5 were drafted in the 3rd or 4th rounds and only 2 are still playing. With 20 still active, that means 44 (figuring 1 punter and 1 kicker per team for a total of 64) were undrafted players signed after the draft or have been in the league longer than 10 years.

I will note that Mike Nugent was taken in the 2nd round and Dustin Colquitt 3rd round 2005 are still active. 2004 only Andy Lee 6th round is active. Josh Brown , 7th round 2003 is still active. Sebastian Janikowski 1st round and Shane Lechler, 5th round 2000 are still playing. Looks like 2005 and 2000 were good years for kickers/punters.

I can't stand the thought of a PK getting drafted before the 5th rd and then they have to be considered generational. Trading up in the 2nd rd for a PK is simply idiotic.

There are no words to describe just how dumb that decision was. Whoever made the decision to draft a kicker that high should be banished to North Korea.

None other than the GM, former Cards exec Jason Licht. Sounds like we should be very glad he's not in our front office any more.

I remember right after he was drafted, one of the local mouths was going off on the radio, pointing out that his college stats were nails inside 40 yards (duh), but outside of 40, he was actually sub-par. How the hell does a GM miss that little detail and blow a #2 on the guy? The average ASF blow-hard on a 3-day Mickey's Big Mouth binge would have known better.
