Mark Curtis had Michael Bidwill on his show tonight.
Curtis asked why is the suit so recent. MB replied that this has been going on for the past 4 years and became public once it went to arbitration.
MB stated that "a deal is a deal" and that ASU did not live up to it.
Curtis implied that the money is not a huge amount in the long run but MB countered that one or two million dollars can be the difference in landing specific free agents.
Curtis asked MB if there could be a resolution and MB replied that they have been trying for the past 4 years to work something out with no success.
It sounds like the bottom line is that ASU created those huge billboards without consulting the Cards (part of the deal) and that essentially damaged the revenue opportunities for the smaller signs in the stadium...plus, the Cards were left out of the huge signage opportunities that ASU went solo on.
