Interesting that we hire the Wizards DOP and that he was their top scout. The Wizards haven't really drafted any notable talent as of late other than Beal and Wall which were both the obvious choices at their selections. I'll trust McDonough's decision though.Suns Make Changes To Front Office
The Phoenix Suns have named Pat Connelly Assistant General Manager and Trevor Bukstein has been promoted to Assistant General Manager. Ronnie Lester has been named a scout and Emilio Kovacic has been named International Scouting Consultant. John Treloar will remain the team’s Director of Player Personnel; John Shumate and Bubba Burrage remain scouts.
The Suns hired Ryan McDonough as general manager this offseason.
Connelly joins the Suns following seven seasons with the Washington Wizards, most recently as the Director of Player Personnel where he was one of the team’s top scouting sources of collegiate and international talent.

Of course the Suns hired someone who has a brother in the NBA.There's no way to really know what was emphasized in that organization. He may have been important in title only, and downplayed when it became decision time. There are lots of really smart people in professional sports in important positions who are routinely ignored.
Imagine being a scout for the Dallas Cowboys, for example.
FWIW, Connelly had only been DoP for two years. He took over for his brother, Tim, who left for the Hornets. They are both admired in the NBA, and maybe they weren't getting an opportunity with the Bullets. I mean, the Wizards.
Roy Rogers, Jr. (born August 19, 1973, in Linden, Alabama) is an American former professional basketball player who played in the NBA.
Rogers, a 6' 9" power forward from the University of Alabama, was selected with the 22nd overall pick in the 1996 NBA Draft by the Vancouver Grizzlies. He appeared in 137 NBA games between 1996 and 2000, averaging 4.8 points per game. He last played professionally in 2003 in Poland.
Rogers served as an assistant coach for the Tulsa 66ers and Austin Toros of the NBA Development League, and was head coach of the Huntsville Flight (now rebranded as the Albuquerque Thunderbirds) in 2005.[1] He also worked as an assistant coach of the New Jersey Nets of the NBA.[2] On August 3, 2010, he became a scout for the Nets.[3] Shortly after, he left for the Boston Celtics.
Phoenix should try to bring Patrick Ewing here.
Not likely. He's the Associate Head Coach for the Bobcats.

@sam_amick: Former Pistons assistant Roy Rogers is joining new Phoenix coach Jeff Hornacek. Rogers was an option for Kings too, but is signing with Suns
Hopefully, he brings Trigger too.

The Suns withdraw from contract talks with Roy Rogers as an assistant coach. Reportedly the problem is not financial.

Any ideas why? Something had to trigger this.

Bring on Grant Hill?
