It's not going to get easier. Teams will just make them cut him.
Respectfully disagree my dude.

Any team in need of a starting QB is likely already in the bottom 10 of the league with very little hope of making the playoffs. They are not about to trade high future draft picks on a lost season. The smart move would be to end the season- see where you are drafting, see what your scouts say about the QB class and then make a decision on if you trade that kind of collateral for a perceived “high risk high reward “ qb like Murray.

I see Murray as extremely untradeable mid season - because there are no buyers for a price tag that high mid season

With no action today on trade front from the cards, I believe they will get rid of Murray after the season, anyway possible. Then next year build the offense like they did the defense this year. Run it back with Jacoby and whomever as his backup.

The look to draft your QBOTF in the 2027 draft. Possibly go after a baker Mayfield or mac jones, but I think they would have the ability to trade away the future to get a QB. Of course this is just my opinion on what will happen not advocating for it.

That sounds right, especially if Monti/JG is given a longer leash and the prospects in 2027 for QB are more desireable. I believe Mikey would give them a chance at their own QB. Soft rebuild next year, then shoot for the stars the following.

The direction really depends on their leash/relationship though. If they truly get one more year, they are bound to be desperate to save their jobs. Is that really preferable?

Either blow it up or give them a semi-fresh start.

At the moment, my thought process is to bring Brissett back next season and start drafting quarterbacks that slide out of the first round of the draft until they find one. Select one every draft until they hit pay dirt.

I am in the camp of giving Petzing the rest of the season to run his offense with a journeyman NFL backup QB who better fits his system than Kyler. The bloodlust for Petzing's scalp is premature.

Any objective observer has to admit the offense has looked better the last three games even without its top two RBs and with a suboptimal offensive line.
I have to admit, as one that was calling for his head, I’m intrigued to see what the rest of the year looks like.

Why in the world would they wait ANOTHER season to draft a QB? Monti and Gannon would be allowed four seasons and THEN another pass in a fifth season with a rookie QB? Not seeing it.

IMO if JB keeps playing at the level he is you don't HAVE to draft a QB. Especially if you don't like the crop coming out that kinda looks like ass.

we are seeing real time examples of quarterbacks that were awful all of a sudden becoming franchise quarterbacks. Nobody thought Sam Darnold or Daniel Jones would become competent quarterbacks, much less very good quarterbacks. It is not out of the realm of possibility to think Jacoby could become an adequate starter for the next couple years.

I assume Indy will either extend or franchise Jones. Not a great list.

ya know...if a team were looking for a guy while not having the resources to get a top 3 draft guy....
it might not be a totally bad idea to get two of these younger guys...
say...Trey Lance and Malik Willis....
get them to buy in to the reclamation process...then go out and hire not one...but two or three of the proven QB gurus out there..guys like Jordan Palmer who have had success breaking unbreakable habits and teaching unteachable techniques..

then put your brain trust of quarterback gurus to teaching your youngsters.. not one on one but as a collaborative effort...this way "second opinions" are built in to the process and if something isnt working they can pivot quickly to trying something else in order to get results.

it might cost a bit of extra cash but if you are using these particular quarterbacks you dont have 40-50 mil tied up in them anyway so the extra cost is a wash....and it doesnt go towards the cap anyway.

aint gonna lie..it might be cathartic to win the division with a guy the Niners invested multiple first round picks into then failed to develop.

But both Lance and Willis have winning traits...and are young enough that bad habits should still be fixable if you can get them to buy in to the process

No! No they don't... SMH
Those two are massive long shots. I will say, Lance was way better than he's ever been this preseason. I think Harbaugh's presence has been huge for his development.

At least with JB, I'm not gripping that a disaster will happen every time the ball is snapped. My anxiety level has reduced.

#1: We need to get our QBOF in 2026, not 2027. Ain't no way I'm keeping Monti and Gannon around several more years to THEN give them several more years with a new QB. If they can't find success, and soon (this season, for me), then bye bye.

#2: Gannon took the job. IDGAF why, and I don't blame him for doing it, but we can't pretend he wasn't married to Kyler when he took the job. Tough ish to Gannon that it didn't work out. Just because it's obvious you should take a head coaching job doesn't absolve you from the results.

Lost in all the talk about Kyler is how good Jacoby has been. He's been a top 10 QB in the last 3 games.

I'm happy for him. It's a tough life being a backup QB. Sure, they are well paid. But depth at every other position gets regular snaps. Backup QB's often see no game time at all, and when they are do they are dropped in at the deep end with guys they barely throw to in schemes they often have not been in long. And while doing all that you're having to move every one or two years.

So it must be nice for him to get to play and play well.
