I like the option of a quarterback sneak as well.
petzing pissed me off - sent marvelous and co off the field and tried to run it on a stacked goaline defense - it didn't work

then i got even madder when he was about to try it again but he didn't - the brissett sneak caught me and dallas off guard - touchdown

I think it gives the Cards another weapon. Teams have to plan for the possibility.

Just got out from two days of jury duty.

Yesterday, Gannon said he was going back to Murray versus Seattle, if he was healthy. Such a bummer to hear.

This - Best news ever !!

Gannon had to get the ok from Bidwill/Monte to come out with JB as starter for the rest of the season. Maybe his job is secure now no matter what and he gets a last shot next year.

I'm not sure we will be in a good position to get a top QB and the free agency ones seems mediocre. With major needs at OL, Brissett could be the starter next year as well? Do you really want Gannon to draft a QB if he only has one year!?

I don't see anyway that Gannon or Ossenfort get fired now. They will get a shot with their own guy. six year rebuild
They could still go 2-7 the rest of the way. I think that would force the issue.

But if Michael wants to keep them, he has cover here. Monti and Gannon have shown zero aptitude for finding and developing QB talent and already failed once with Kyler.

news didn't come out until after the trade deadline expired - im guessing monti made gannon wait but brissett starting was a done deal

Let’s be honest. He was never going back to Murray for the Seattle game. What sense would it make to send a guy out there who hasn’t played in a month & who’s nursing a foot injury against maybe the best defense in the NFL? Especially with how bad our OL is. This decision isn’t rocket science. Let’s just hope Brissett doesn’t get hurt.

They haven't exactly tried.
What are you talking about? They’ve had every incentive to develop Murray over the past two and a half years—a guy they said they were thrilled to inherit when they can onboard.

Then they acquired Clayton Tune and Desmond Ridder and couldn’t create value with them, either.

They didn’t choose Kyler, they inherited him on a massive contract with no real way out. It’s not like his talent level is so elite that the staff somehow “failed” him. Tune was a 5th round flier and Ridder’s been a career backup. Expecting them to “create value” out of that mix isn’t realistic.

BTW - Ridder is unemployed, and Tune is on another teams practice squad.

Yes but they didn’t slow-walk Kyler like Sean Payton did with Russ. They eagerly embraced him every step of the way.

Once you adopt someone, they’re your child no matter what happens later.

You act as if they really had a choice KM was just extended to A MASSIVE CONTRACT. They were told who their QB would be when hired.

Let's be honest. Does anybody really want to see a year 8 of K1? My wife was saying I thought your team was good. I was like dear that was 4 years ago and we collapsed after 7-0. She was speechless after that lol

Well they also took the job they don’t get to complain about the conditions of their hiring.

Also they didn’t have to do all the bonus stuff like travel to Norman for Kyler’s statue.

Did they get held at gunpoint when it came to choosing the job or something?
Come on now. The salary jump from coordinator to HC and Front office personnel to GM is massive. Life changing $. Some will but few are going to turn down an opportunity when presented. Any way you slice it they were saddled with Murray. Who was limited from the jump. The team already looks and acts more like an NFL franchise with JB at the helm.

Next offseason is going to be painful, and I don't think Gannon survives the process of finding a new QB, but Monti might. I wonder if we'll hit the panic button on the whole franchise in the offseason.

I hope we move on from Kyler though.

With no action today on trade front from the cards, I believe they will get rid of Murray after the season, anyway possible. Then next year build the offense like they did the defense this year. Run it back with Jacoby and whomever as his backup.

The look to draft your QBOTF in the 2027 draft. Possibly go after a baker Mayfield or mac jones, but I think they would have the ability to trade away the future to get a QB. Of course this is just my opinion on what will happen not advocating for it.

Nobody was beating down the door for Monti or Gannon. If they wanted a chance to be GM or HC they needed to accept the job. We can thank Bidwill for all of this.

As others have said, this recent uptick in offense likely bought petzing, Gannon, and monti more time. I’m not sure if that’s good or bad.
