I wish I could share that optimism, as guarded as it is, but I can't see where it's coming from. The roster looks worse, IMO, and we have the same coach. Not throwing shade on your opinion, though I'm honestly curious: What is better than expected and how do you get there?
I would say, not that I agree with this sentiment, most of what the roster was last season didn't really play much together.

As disastrous as Gannon and Co were, you have to also consider that the Cardinals were literally the 2nd most injured team of this century. Pretty crazy that if you do the math, that's over 750 teams that were considering.

Throw in a Big John (Love), a possible big time playmaker on offense, and yes, the team could be better. My biggest doubt is the front seven because they are relying on some from a motley crew to step up and be better.

Lots of subjective opinions and present them as factual. It's pretty common here, if someone asks questions or heaven forbid questions, people pile on

So ...

'LJ Collier - fringe roster player', maybe, what do you mean by fringe
'Nolen - played 7 games for a league worst defense' This clearly a false statement. Were they good no, but the worst, not even close by the stats I've found they rank 27-30 depending on the stat. Is this good heck no but the worst is hyperbole at the best most charitable reading.
'Mack Wilson - Journeyman ILB. Defense did dip when he was out. Unclear if he can overcome the other deficiencies.' Nicely unspecific so impossible to refute. What other deficiencies ?
I have no issue with being asked what I mean/intended or to add more context.

Fringe roster player. - A player who has not consistently been a starter, been on multiple teams, but still has contributed with a 30% to 50% snap share.

I can amend to one of the worst defenses in the league. I agree that is more accurate.

Deficiencies as in health and tackling. First season as an every down player and he gets hurt. He has rarely had large workloads in his career. Maybe it is a blip and maybe it isn't. We will see. Same with this missed tackling %. This was a large spike from his % in 2024 but is more in line with his career #s which has been high.

We're talking about the D, not the team.

And yet, none of the young or other players on the team could beat Tomlinson out for starting snaps. Dalvin had 1 less sack and 8 less tackles than Baron Browning on the year. 7th on the defensive roster in snaps played at 48.43%. Tops amongst EDGE and other DL player.

Maybe Roy Lopez can replace that snap share and production but his backup is Billings who is terrible. At best you are break even at the NT spot, equally bad at the backup, and still don't have a replacement for CC.

Maybe Mack Wilson stays healthy. He has played the most snaps per game in AZ than he has anywhere else in his career except his rookie year. I hope he can handle the workload. The Cardinals still have the same talent around him that they did last year with the exception of ADG. ADG wasn't good, and we will see if Jack Gibbens can hold off Cody Simon and Pappoe.
ADG wasn't just "wasn't good", he was among the worst coverage players in football last year according to Profootballreference, so it's definitely addition by subtraction. Gibbens was actually pretty good starting down the stretch for NE when Spillane went down and was a very solid depth signing.

Lopez was definitely better than Tomlinson last year. He was among the better rotational DL in the league last year, and probably should have just been resigned last year. He had better stats on less snap percentage.

Wow, a lot more optimism than I was expecting.

The defense will be horrific. Not only is it less talented than it was going into last season they kept the DC that the players quit on last year.

Offense... We are going to have a bad QB situation, probably the worst in the NFL, going into the season.

Bad defense.... Bad QB play... The inevitable injuries in camp and early in the season.

I think 0 to 2 wins total. It's really, really difficult to go winless but this team has the chance to do it. The most wildly optimistic outcome I have is 4 wins with 2 of them coming in the division.
Wow I don’t agree especially about the D. Just having a running game will help the D tremendously

Sorry if this a repost, MLF said today that Garrett Williams might be ready for game 1 this year. BJO, Nolen, Tip, JC, and Starling will all be ready for TC. I might have forgot someone. I know many have written off BJO but he still has a chance to contribute and not a D&D chance.
We know Nolen is a beast.
Even though K9 disagrees with me I do believe if this Team can limit opponents to 24 points or less the Offense is going to win us some games. Maybe 7 or 8.

I'm not sure Rallis and crew can do that but there are some good players on the D.
Run game from Offense should be 2024 good but we have backups and a rookie at QB.
I can't see us making the playoffs or even improving our standing in the division but I think most of us would be happy with 7 or 8 wins.
