I wish I could share that optimism, as guarded as it is, but I can't see where it's coming from. The roster looks worse, IMO, and we have the same coach. Not throwing shade on your opinion, though I'm honestly curious: What is better than expected and how do you get there?
I would say, not that I agree with this sentiment, most of what the roster was last season didn't really play much together.

As disastrous as Gannon and Co were, you have to also consider that the Cardinals were literally the 2nd most injured team of this century. Pretty crazy that if you do the math, that's over 750 teams that were considering.

Throw in a Big John (Love), a possible big time playmaker on offense, and yes, the team could be better. My biggest doubt is the front seven because they are relying on some from a motley crew to step up and be better.

Lots of subjective opinions and present them as factual. It's pretty common here, if someone asks questions or heaven forbid questions, people pile on

So ...

'LJ Collier - fringe roster player', maybe, what do you mean by fringe
'Nolen - played 7 games for a league worst defense' This clearly a false statement. Were they good no, but the worst, not even close by the stats I've found they rank 27-30 depending on the stat. Is this good heck no but the worst is hyperbole at the best most charitable reading.
'Mack Wilson - Journeyman ILB. Defense did dip when he was out. Unclear if he can overcome the other deficiencies.' Nicely unspecific so impossible to refute. What other deficiencies ?
I have no issue with being asked what I mean/intended or to add more context.

Fringe roster player. - A player who has not consistently been a starter, been on multiple teams, but still has contributed with a 30% to 50% snap share.

I can amend to one of the worst defenses in the league. I agree that is more accurate.

Deficiencies as in health and tackling. First season as an every down player and he gets hurt. He has rarely had large workloads in his career. Maybe it is a blip and maybe it isn't. We will see. Same with this missed tackling %. This was a large spike from his % in 2024 but is more in line with his career #s which has been high.

We're talking about the D, not the team.
