One thing Mikey did right, early on, was hitting the streets to get public sentiment and the vote passed for the new stadium. After that, full potato.
The stadium ending up in Glendale is a total dud.

The overall average is misleading. You can't run a successful offense based on having your primary and secondary backs getting 2.8 yards per carry on 22 carries, and hoping for your change of pace back to break off a 71-yard run on one of his three carries.
I get it. But that was never the point or the discussion.

They came from behind against an SEC team on the road. I'm not holding him to a "they win every game or he sucks" standard.
They shoulda whooped the doors off them. Worst team in the SEC by far last season. :)

This season they almost beat Tennessee on the road. Should have won it for sure, but Kenny so far has been pretty good in close games.

Most of that was beyond his control. It became a pissing match between PHX and Tempe...then Glendale stepped in.
Yeah...instead of waiting on something to happen with the 7 and 8s, he took the 4 that was a sure thing. Whoopie.

They are better this season...and ASU was still figuring out life after Skatman the first few games this year. It happens...they rallied on the road and ended up giving up a big play down the stretch to lose.

No way. Kenny is ALL IN at ASU. He loves the school. It's his dream job. No way he leaves that just for a pro job.

Not sure if ASU was ever his "dream job," but rather, an opportunity to become a head coach where he grew up. He also interviewed for Arizona during the Jedd Fisch hire and would've run naked to Tucson to take the job. I know for a fact that he took some phone calls from bigger schools after last season, but I dont think any of it manifested to a legit interview. If he continues to win double digit games, he wont be in Tempe for very much longer.

It 100% was the point of the discussion, which started here:
We rushed for 167 yards yesterday. The run game wasn't the problem.
The ineffective run game was a big problem and taking away Demercado's yards to reveal the 2.8 ypc average over 22 rushes by Carter and Knight illustrates it.

lol

Yes, Kenny Dillingham has repeatedly stated that coaching Arizona State is his "dream job," a sentiment he expressed at his introductory press conference and has reinforced since, highlighting his deep roots in the state and his connection to the university, for which he also received an education.

I guess you get what you pay for as far as coaches and gms. That game will be a permanent fixture with NFL films for many decades. It was very entertaining to watch. All of the terrible coaches that the Cardinals have had since they got to AZ and Gannon tops them all.
I don’t think they will be able to put that game in the rear view mirror very soon.

I think you're wrong. I think he stays at ASU for a very long time - even if very successful. He went to Chaparral High and ASU. He's been an ASU fan since he was like 5 or 6 and tailgating with his family out in the parking lot outside of SDS. In nearly every extended interview he has done about ASU, he has said it is his dream job. Period.

The most inauthentic statement anyone can make in college sports is to say that, "I coach/play for my dream school." In fact, coaches try to "win the press conference" by saying things like "dream job," "top 5 program in the nation (Dennis Erickson)," "sleeping giant," etc. to win fan approval. Jedd Fisch said a lot of similar things to Arizona fans and donors, publicly and privately, and then 10 minutes later, was off to Seattle to take the UW job. Even Nick Saban, who had the best job in college football, and Coach K, who had the best job in college basketball, were minutes away from signing with another team.

Loyalty is only as valuable as the dollar amount and years on your contract. If Penn State offered double his salary, Kenny would be gone.

Except with Kenny it’s true. He begged to be a graduate assistant under Todd Grahams staff, even stayed for free after they gave the role to someone else. He left to Memphis with Mike Norvell for no additional money so he could get more experience, leaving his wife in Arizona so she could finish school at ASU. He told everyone he would be the head coach at ASU one day. He eventually took the job at Oregon because he wanted to be on the west coast in the PAC12 to have a better shot at the ASU job when it opened. He’s not passionate about building this school because that’s his style, he’s passionate about building ASU because he loves this school. Massive U of A fan cope.

If you decide to completely ignore all the other factors that makes this one different than the ones you mentioned, yes, I could see how you could completely misread the situation.

Yes TJ, Dillingham and the Jedd Fisch situation were basically the same. Incredible.
