Would you trade...

Kyler Murray

for

Breece Hall and Justin Fields

?

Does Hall need to sign an extension for you to do this?

No but the Hall extension would at least make me think.

Justin Fields is terrible, so you're essentially trading Kyler for Hall. If that's the best you can get for Kyler then yeah but you have to be realistic, Fields will never be a QB you can consistently win with, he can't throw the football

Why would the Jets do this
If you feel RBs are replaceable and then Kyler is an upgrade from what they have, I think you can talk yourself into this deal as a franchise. Ego fuels so many of these HC and GMs and owners. It is natural to look at Kyler and Arizona and tell yourself the story that it would be different if he was with our team vs AZ. It could be considered a buy low opportunity that doesn't cost you much. Nothing about that trade prevents a QB from being drafted next year.

So many defensive coaches operate under the "I just need my QB to not lose me the game" mindset, especially early in their tenor.

Michael Vick couldn’t throw a football either other than with power… yet prior to his dog issues, everybody loved him including many on this board. Career completion percentage 56%. The guy was awful as a thrower….

he had a great arm just no accuracy, Fields has neither. Plus it's a different era, 65.3 was the league average for completion % 2 years ago that's the most recent I can find. Fields has been below that in all but one of his years, and all he does is dump the ball off.

Vick was never as good as the hype I will agree with that plus a horrible person

My all time best draft prediction was that Drew Brees would be twice the QB Vick ever would. And that ended up a conservative estimate!

wouldnt that be the Vikings demonstrating that they have seen JJ up close for more than a year and have decided he cant play
I dunno “can’t play” vs isn’t synched to their window.

JJ also hasn’t played much football or practiced since he was drafted. 15 months ago he’d clearly earned the starting job over Sam Darnold.

Just a guess but I don’t think the Vikes coach would be jumping at the chance to commit to Kyler for the next couple years.

Yea like said @kerouac9 he doesn't match their time line. Seems Vikings want to start being championship contenders right now. They might not have the patience of letting JJ get through his growing pains

No. Would not do any trade that involves Justin Fields. If they trade Kyler are they not saying they are trying to IMPROVE the QB situation? Justin Fields would NOT do that.

The Cards have the cap space and flexibility to offset a chunk of that. Kyler is guaranteed ~$37 mm next year, $17m of which is a bonus. Cards could pay that.

Kyler then is under contract in 2026 to the Vikes for ~$20mm and they hold an option to have him in 2027 for $20mm.

So Vikings see Murray as a championship QB? The. The failures in AZ are on others shoulders.
Never know how these coaches feel. They feel they can fix anyone especially with rehabilitation project qb being thing. Might see kyler as the next chance for that

Moving on from Kyler might be painful but more pain than we have experienced the last few years?

The other aspect is if we have the cap space to cover the hit now, I’d cut and run.

Theoretically they can. Can Michael convince the board to pay out $20 million more to Kyler for him to play on another team? Would Michael want to do that? I don’t know.

He doesn’t have to be a championship QB at that price; he just has to be better than what they have.
