If I'm Monti I'm moving Jonah Williams, he's in his last year and Beachum can more than cover him for the remainder. You would get a 5th, maybe a 4th from a desperate team like the Chargers.

I'd move Budda. I know he's a leader but he's not the future. He's not done much this year. I like DTD and we should give him more snaps.

I'd be fine with moving Jalen Thompson, I've never particularly liked him, I don't know if there is much value in a mid safety on his money but he's nearing the end of his deal with we should get a low pick for a team that needs safety help. Crawford has showing flashes when he's played.

Moving Kyler would be nice but it doesn't seem likely right now. Maybe if someone offers a higher pick they might eat the money but then unless Steve Keim makes a comeback to some other team I can't see that happening.

I think we can move these guys and not be much worse.

We can move one of budda or Thompson but if we moved both our entire defensive scheme would have to change as we play 3 safeties so much. I love Budda but I would try and move him. He's a total non factor in the pass game and this year he's not even blitzing much. If he has trade value they should use it and let him go to a contender to finish out his career.

Budda's best play yesterday, when he blew up a scrambling Love, was canceled when another defender was called for hands to the face or something. Most likely it was on #0 on our team. He was a penalty machine.

The saddest part of this thread is that we're talking about guys we should trade away for picks not guys we should be trading FOR to strengthen our playoff run.

Because we're 2-5 and would need a literal miracle to make a playoff run

I don't see Monti moving any player that he is not also considering cutting once some injured guys have to be activated. Mostly because the team needs to win and none of the mentioned players probably net much in return anyways.

And honestly, there wasn’t anything particularly special about the play other than that he hit him really hard

Trade Kyler to the Vikings. They are in contention and need a QB. Plus, KOC seems to like, and succeed, with reclamation projects. Daniel Jones and Darnold are prime examples.
I'm sure we would take their call.

A 50 million dollar contract is not an easy thing to move though - even if they wanted him, which I am questionable about.

Wentz' career passer rating and rating this season are both exactly 89.3. Murray's career rating is 92.2 and this year it's 88.6.

Wentz' QBR this year is 42.5 and Murray's is 42.8.

Wentz already is the Vikings' reclamation project. No way they'd give up anything of value for Murray, who would require an entirely different offense, while offering virtually zero upgrade over the journeyman Wentz.

Every GM in the league can see that Murray is no better than a journeyman backup.

Yup. Hard pressed to believe they aren't just going to roll with JJ McCarthy as well when he is back. They have no need for another QB at this point.

I'm wondering if buying out Murray's contract for next season is a possible option. Might he reconsider a baseball career at age 28.

Yeah, I know it's a reach.

I think that some GMs under pressure and defensive head coaches without a clear alternative will convince themselves that Kyler provides a high-variance path from 4-13 to 8-9.

But they won’t give up a haul to find out.

The last thing that KOC wants is a QB that can't play on time with the receivers they have there.

If the Vikings wanted to do something at QB for this year they would work something out with the Falcons for Cousins who knows the scheme and players and who would surely take a paycut to return home.

No if we traded them Kyler, we'd get JJ in return, just to punish me

lol….the only way you move Williams is to cut him.
Budda isn’t going anywhere and we know Kyler isn’t.
The only place Kyler’s going is back in the starting line inspite of what we’ve watched these last 2 weeks.

Yeah...no. If you were Monti you wouldn't be doing any of that because you would be worried about losing your job.

why would he be worried? This is bidwill we are talking about … he gave Steve keim 10 years… after he drafted a shorty quarterback who couldn’t play and gave him a quarter of a billion dollar contract… plus not to mention all the many ..,many draft busts keim gave us… Monti while not perfect cleaned up the salary cap for us quickly and that means a lot to bidwil… Monti is safe for now let him pick a real quarterback and try a mike mcarthy or a dillingham and let’s try this again

There is no way we trade Kyler or even fire anyone. There is no one on the staff who is capable of calling plays or improving anything. No team is prepared to change everything for Kyler.

We should take a run at adding oline at the deadline. Even though it's the same guys as last year they dont look good other than pjj.
Gotta wonder if they start getting calls for kyler
