I still don't see how the Philadelphia Eagles can go into next season thinking anything less than keeping Jalen Carter on the roster for a very long time.

I'm one of the biggest fans of Carter out there, and while I understand that he has some problems on the defensive side of the football and off the field, I still recognize that I think he's one of the best players in the NFL.

To me, with a team looking to win a Super Bowl, there's absolutely no reason to move on from him at the moment.

If the Eagles decide to do so, I'd actually question Howie Roseman, something I typically don't do.

My only question for the Eagles is: if they decide to move on from him, when will it happen?

Wouldn't they want to get a decent haul for Carter now, before they could potentially lose him for nothing, and before his value drops because he's a free agent after that? That's something the Eagles ultimately have to decide over the next few months, as his price could go down day by day.

Still, I think he's a very good player, and if they decide to move on from him, one writer recently predicted that Carter could be the guy to be traded.

“The Eagles and Carter are still likely to get a contract extension done (and they should). What if both sides are at an impasse when camp starts? Does Carter hold out until he gets a deal? What if the Eagles stand firm on their approach and want Carter to show more consistent production and mature more?

“If this extension talk drags out and Carter wants a record-setting deal, maybe Carter's representation is the one that asks for a trade. This is a scenario the Eagles don't want, but they may have to entertain. This would be a bad look if the Eagles traded A.J. Brown and Jalen Carter in a span of a few months. The Eagles can't allow this to happen, and it shouldn't get to that point,” Jeff Kerr wrote.

As touched on here, it's fair to look at Carter wanting a massive deal. That's a harsh reality of this situation, and likely 90% of the reason the Eagles are even considering moving on from him in the first place.
