Thought this might be interesting--what is your top 5 films released since 2000? A lot of these will no doubt be more recent, since a lot of movie fans have short memories, but I thought it might be interesting to see since many favorites today are from the 90s (like Shawshank or The Usual Suspects).

My 5 in no particular order (as far as entertaining goes):

The Dark Knight
Fellowship of the Ring
The Incredibles
District 9
Skyfall

There are bunch of films that I love that could make this list, like Amelie, Ratatouille and Gladiator. Difficult to put together.

This is not a list of "Best Picture" types, just a list of films I enjoyed and can watch over and over--future "Classics" as the case may be.

A Separation.

Amazing.

Did you ever see The Diving Bell and the Butterfly?

Or The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel?

Both films that would be on a top 10 list of great films of the last 12 years.

Best exotic is one of the few movies I have fallen asleep in more than once involuntarily. Cannot hold to A Separation.

And I am too lightweight for the Diving Bell movie.

The Sea Inside also gets a nod if since 2000.

A Separation
Sea Inside
Dark Knight
Can't remember
I forgot

:)

Good call. I would also say Anchorman and Bridesmaids are in the disxussion because comedies get ripped off. :)

I didn't care for Anchorman and Bridesmaids is horribly overrated, but that is because I saw the infinitely funnier Horrible Bosses right before it.

As far as comedies go, as bad as the sequel was, The Hangover has to be in the conversation.

Memento was released in 2000 so it isn't since 2000, but it isn't the 90's. Does that count?

Will compromise on The Hangover, but hard to say top five. :)

Didn't like No Country at all. American or Swedish Dragon Tattoo? I think both are spectacular, but the Swedish version is just a little bit better.

She definitely was fascinating. Noomi Rapace was absolutely amazing in the Swedish version, and it's interesting seeing the differences in the way the actresses played the character.

Those are all from the last 2 or 3 years. Memory failing you, eh, Steve? :D

I have a great memory, I just don't know where I put it. No, seriously, I was really disappointed with a lot of the movies earlier in that decade. If you had asked for top 5 movies from 1995 to 2010, my list would not have been as weighted towards the more recent films.
