One can't help but wonder if the Suns extensive interview process for head coach wasn't to glean as much information as possible.

Head coaching candidates were asked about Bradley Beal.

Per Gambo, I thought it was a settled matter, that Beal is not coming back. Apparently not.

The Suns actually might be better off keeping him another season until he becomes an expiring contract.

Gambo seems to indicate, at least in a general way, that if Beal takes less money, he can be bought out and stretched.

See follow up comments.

Beal has to realize he's not wanted by us. I'm not sure how he can go just go about collecting checks and holding the franchise hostage.

Lmao dude we would all do the same exact thing. He’s still got 110 million on that contract none of use would just leave that kind of money
Yeah these players learn early on that the NBA is a business first and they have to approach it the same way. Throwing away his guaranteed money is just not good business for Beal.

Cute but is it really greed? I think it's unrealistic to believe he would do anything other than what he believes is best for himself and his family. I'd like him gone too and that may not happen but it won't be his fault - the blame lies solely with our front office.

I agree the blame lies with the Suns front office, they are the ones that traded for him.

However, if Beal would take less money in a buyout and make it up on a new contract with another team, I think it would be best for everyone.

True. I blame Ish, not Beal. Beal seems like a nice guy. Have to put him in a position to succeed, in being a good player. Up to the coach and GM (right, Ish?) to put a good and balanced roster on the floor and let Beal be a scorer, but not a ball hog nor a ball watcher. I don't know how to do that so I leave it to the experts. No quotes.

I think James Jones deserves his fair share of scrutiny on the Beal trade.

It’s like we’re driving a 90’s Ford Truck, while still making payments on the broken Lambo in the shop.

If that can happen, fine. But I seem to remember the Player's Association stopping this kind of move in the past.

It can happen, taking less money than his contractual agreement, hence the term buyout.

Maybe, I'm not sure if the situation is the same or if they've softened on this but I do know in the past the Player's Association has put a stop to attempts by players to restructure their contract (when taking significantly less money).

I think they are better off keeping him. It's not like he is an inefficent player, and it's not like they can get fair value in a trade. Since we don't have our pick for next year, might as well keep him since tanking is out of the question.

Dude can still score, and will be much better as a second option than a third.

He can. He did that for at least a couple years in Washington.

If the Suns can not trade Beal or buy him out and stretch his contract for less money, to comply with the 15% rule, they might be better off keeping him for another season.

Trading picks/adding even more terrible contracts/buying off Beal all seem to be inferior options to just keeping him at this point. (Unless his attitude/effort are so cancerous he must leave immediately)

There are some limitations to the buyout and stretch provision. That's why Beal would have to take less money. I need to bookmark that 15% provision.

I understand that, I'm talking about what the Player's Association will allow. In the past, they've stepped in when a player on a big contract agrees to take less money. Small fries they ignore but Beal's contract, no way will they allow it unless something has changed (rules-wise) to force them to allow it.
