A lot is going to depend on what we do with the OL during free agency. If we do not find at least 2 OL to join, we are going to draft OL after Monte trades back of course. We all know he likes to trade back so expect a tackle in round one.

MLF has a lot more football knowledge than everyone on this board so I'll trust his opinion on drafting Simpson at 3 if that is the case. I don't think he makes it past all four of these teams: Browns, Chiefs, Dolphins and Rams. So it doesn't look like a whole lot of room to guess where we need to trade back to. If the Giants want to jump up from 5 to 3, it would probably cost them their 2nd round pick according to the draft chart.
I think we go OL too, I just won't be upset if it is Simpson. Someone posted in the draft thread that there a prediction that we trade with the Cowboys and get both their 1st round picks, the first being at 12. Miami picks 11th. I don't see the Browns going QB, I think they let Sanders and Watson battle it out next year.

And don’t forget the Steelers as a possibility as well

I know this is unpopular, but if ML thinks he's the guy, then I'm for taking him. Some have the Rams taking him at 13. If they do and he starts for the Rams for 10 years after Stafford retires, we'll be kicking ourselves.
Disagree.
For Simpson that is the best case scenario. Because he gets to ride the pine for a couple years.
We would throw him to the wolves by week 8 and by late December the kid would be ruined.
We need a guy with way more starts than Simpson has even if he has less raw talent or fewer stats in college

I would prefer we draft the top OT at #3 and get QB Garrett Nussmeier LSU on Day two. IMO he is better than Simpson. He had a terrific junior year in 2024 and played injured most of his senior year. He looked good in the Senior Bowl just recently.

I watched 2 or 3 of his games and I came away thinking Alabama has a quarterback problem.

The hype around this guy makes zero sense to me.
Great way to scout & make final decisions is to only look at 2 or 3 games.

I wouldn't be all in on Simpson at 23.
3 is out of the question.
Dude needs to ride pine for a couple years or the NFL is going to eat him alive.
No QB needs to do that in 2026. You either have it or you don’t. Just wasting everyone’s time otherwise.

This is not true. He legit fell off after the A&M game that year & never recovered.

If you think he is your QB, you take him. 6 of 32 starters from last year were not 1st rounders. If Watson isn't an idiot and also hurt, that would be 5. Next season, Mendoza and probably Watson will be starting, so those are two more 1st rounders. Prudy seems interchangeable with Mac Jones, who was also a 1st rounder and might start sooner than later given Prudy's contract. Prescott and Hurts are both non-first round mainstays and that is it in the current list. Russ Wilson and Tom Brady are the other exceptions because Shough is still TBD.

I would agree in theory, but there's no way we can know this to be the case. Once ML accepted the job with all of Bidwill's tainted demands with the coaching staff, we learned we can't trust ML to be truthful. If he says Simpson's his guy, he could easily just be toeing the company line.

It does seem like ML accepted certain things to save money and go along with MB's way

I've been saying all along that he needs to control the room and it's a lot more difficult when you have so many left over coaches from the last failed staff

He had no oline ..no running game…no coaching and wr with skillet hands…I disagree I think he is smart…accurate and tough….tony Pauline’s “sources” say we are getting Malik Willis anyway….

I can speculate all day , but I don't KNOW what demands Bidwill placed on ML. If ML believes Simpson is his guy, I'm fine with taking him at three. I am not going to insist every decision ML makes is forced on him. I know some will disagree, but I'm pretty confident Monti and ML know little more about football than us fans;)

If you put Simpson on Indiana with that dominant offensive line and running game, he would have been absolutely special. Yes Simpson struggled at the end of the season, but this was the worst Alabama Offensive Line/Running Game in maybe the last 50 years. Go watch the Georgia game and see Simpson just destroy the Georgia defense. There is a lot to work with.

Why are many putting faith in ML and saying if he's his guy, then take him at 3? Based on what track record? If ML says to take him at 3, then he should have no say in the scouting. Isn't that Monti's job anyway? By most scouts, Simpson is a fringe 1st round guy, likely 2nd or 3rd if this were a normal QB draft. Taking him at 3 would be horrendous.

The ONLY reason anybody would draft Simpson in the top 3 is because he is a QB. Period. It's the kind of thinking that gets guys like Trey Lance, Anthony Richardson, and Zach Wilson to turn into absurd reaches.

That, in itself, would be speculating, even if it comes out of his mouth. I agree we can't KNOW these things, but I must believe MLF had to accept those things to take the job, because the alternative is he's an idiot, IMO.
