I just have a feeling the kid is going to rise hard in the pre-draft process. I firmly understand why people here don't want to pull the trigger at #3, but I also don't see how we could move up from the top of the 2nd to realistically get him when there's three teams in the Dolphins, Rams, and Jets who could take him not that far outside of the top ten.
Yeah, I have been saying that for months. He is a quarterback, and he put on fantastic tape for 8-9 games. That could easily be enough to get him drafted in the top 10. Then add that he has studied behind some very good college-QB’s at one of the top SEC-teams for multiple years, and that he will blow teams away in the interview process. Oh yes, he could absolutely be a very high pick.

We sitting him for 3 years?

Also what round?

Anything above round 3 and playing before year 3 is a no from me.

Not even close to enough game film to make a decision on this kid.

LA, which has two picks in the first round (13, 29) could be the target.

Although there's talk that LA will pick him to sit behind Stafford.

Makes sense. They have a strong organization and can sit him (ala Mahomes) and bring him along slowly.

Daniel Jeremiah on #AZCardinals potential QB plans in Day 2 if they did go that route. "Ty Simpson would fit great in there."Highlights Drew Allar, Carson Beck and Garrett Nussmeier as options in the next tier. Says outside of Ty Simpson, there's no solid fit for a Shanahan/McVay system that Mike LaFleur could run. If Simpson isn't there at 34, Arizona would probably opt for a later option

Former Alabama QB Ty Simpson will throw at next week’s NFL combine, per source — an opportunity to solidify his status as a first-round pick.

Simpson is the consensus QB2 behind presumptive No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza, who has said he’ll wait and throw at pro day.

Trading back into the first round would probably cost us next years 1st. No thanks - if he isn’t there at 34, wasn’t worth it
nah man...we could move from 34 up to around 30 for like a 3rd

according to the trade value chart that move is equivalent to a mid 4th....about 60 points

At the end of the day, just pull the trigger at #3 and don't look back. Who cares about questionable non-blue chip edge rushers or solid RTs at #3. They ain't worth it and won't turn this franchise into a contender.

Simpson is a perfect fit for MLF. Trading down a notch for a bag of potatoes ain't worth it. I'm all in on Simpson at #3. Mark my words!

Meh, this will help his draft stock but it shouldn't. Throwing the rock around without pads or pressure means zilch. Smart of him to do so.

...and then suffer for years because we drafted a guy who isn't ready for the NFL. Sorry, no thanks. He's started few games and what did he do in the big games he started?

I wouldn't be all in on Simpson at 23.
3 is out of the question.

Seems like Simpson's last 5-6 games is what he can expect at Arizona. Which was a weak OL and no running game. Most scouts say he needs to sit behind an experienced starter. Well, if that all doesn't spew joining the Cardinals, I don't know what does (sarcasm).

If we don't have a long term plan for him to sit for at least a year, we should pass. It's just our luck that the "perfect" scenario for Simpson would be drafted by the Rams and sit behind Stafford. Then we will see the cerebreal mind that Simpson has tear us apart for years to come.

I know this is unpopular, but if ML thinks he's the guy, then I'm for taking him. Some have the Rams taking him at 13. If they do and he starts for the Rams for 10 years after Stafford retires, we'll be kicking ourselves.

Is that an unpopular opinion? I would have guessed that everyone wants to let LaFleur fix the team the way he finds best, and thus accept it if he wants Simpson at all cost.

A lot is going to depend on what we do with the OL during free agency. If we do not find at least 2 OL to join, we are going to draft OL after Monte trades back of course. We all know he likes to trade back so expect a tackle in round one.

MLF has a lot more football knowledge than everyone on this board so I'll trust his opinion on drafting Simpson at 3 if that is the case. I don't think he makes it past all four of these teams: Browns, Chiefs, Dolphins and Rams. So it doesn't look like a whole lot of room to guess where we need to trade back to. If the Giants want to jump up from 5 to 3, it would probably cost them their 2nd round pick according to the draft chart.
