I agree that the only way we can trade Kyler is to eat a large part of his contract...maybe half to three quarters, but does that reduce our cap hit? If a team wants Kyler, it would be smart to give up a mid to late draft choice and guaranty that they get him, verses waiting for him to be released and risking that he signs with another team.
No it reduces the cap hit for the team who trades for him.

We could be exactly like the Bengals if we did all that. Might as well get our coaches from Cleveland too. I mean Petzing did such a wonderful job as QB coach their we did it right, made him our OC.
Speaking of the Bengals....
Anyone else notice the Bengals’ defense hasn’t been the same since Lou Anarumo left? Once he was let go and went to Indy, they lost a lot of what made them tough — disguises, situational defense, and winning ugly close games. Anarumo was about game plans and adjustments, not just talent.
That’s why it’s interesting Arizona passed on him for HC and hired Gannon instead.
Maybe if our defense and special teams weren’t so poorly prepared, the offense wouldn’t be expected to be perfect every week. It’s completely fine to score 15 points if you’re consistently holding the other team to 14 or less. That’s how winning football works. Stop the other team and your offense suddenly looks like world beaters.

IMO he won't get more than $6 to $8 million. In fact he will be lucky to get even that much.

Removing rookie deals, that is Marcus Mariotta / Tyrod Taylor money.

His agent should be able to point to Daniel Jones and the 14 million he makes this year as a reasonable one year prove it deal

Some team is going to look at this

Gannon without Murray - 2 and 16 11% win percentage
Gannon with Murray 13 and 17 43% win percentage

and guess if between their players and their coaches are they markedly better than the Cardinals. But it is probably on a 1 year deal unless we are eating 75% of the contract.

I could be wrong and actually I hope that other GMs value him and trade for him. That would be the best outcome for the Cardinals.
I could as well. I have no idea how other teams will view him. They obviously won't sign him to a large, multi year deal, but Daniel Jones was considered ass and he signed a 14 mil deal with Indy this past year. Justin Fields got 20 mil. Hell, Russ Wilson got 10.5.

Yeah the non rookie contracts are insane.
And wait until the rookies go for their next contract...
Bryce Young and CJ Stroud will be playing their last year (both have options for 2027)
Daniels, Williams, Nix, Maye and Penix are finishing year 2, and contract extensions likely in 2027 at the latest.

Coach Payton saw one year of Russ Wilson and bailed. He has no interest in Kyler who is the same type of player.
...and yet Gannon hadn't officially said Kyler wasn't the starter until the Dallas game. Over 2.5 years in his reign.

So Gannon either isn't a good talent evaluator, by waiting so long to cut bait, or he isn't a good people manager for the same reason. Neither looks great.

I will say:

Stroud, Maye, Daniels, Williams are locks for extensions though I would only pay Maye and Daniels

Maybe is Nix and Young

Nah to Penix

Every single one of those QBs is a lock to get an extension. The only slightly questionable one is Penix if he gets another major injury after this one.

It's good to be an NFL QB. It's hard to get there. But if you can reach even just a little below average you will be a very rich person.

But Williams has all the measurables.
Except maybe the mental part, and decision making... I would put him in the maybe category and this time. You'd have another year to decide...

Yeah, Nix is a lock. They love him here in Denver, even though he has played really poor for about half of his career so far...
