Can we be 100% sure Kyler won’t be here next year?
I know what most of us seem to want. I know what the radio heads are saying.
There have been so many spins of salary implications of cutting now or later or trading him and eating salary that I ask, have we really looked at all the what if’s?
What if this coaching staff is fired?
What if Kyler would be willing to stay and be reborn with a new head coach?
What if Kyler’s contract is renegotiated and it makes it easier to trade or release him next year?
What if there is a head coach who would be willing to work with Kyler and promising him a system fit for him?
What if Bidwill sees Kyler’s failures directly tied to Gannon and Petzing.

Now before you all rip into me because this is all about “ what if’s”, I ask you please consider the organization we are talking about. Anything is possible and is anything really impossible with this team?
One thing seems certain. If Gannon is here in 2026, Kyler won’t be. But if Gannon and his staff is gone????

Also, this is not meant to be another Kyler sucks, no he doesn’t post. It’s not meant to be about how the fan base would feel. It’s simply an attempt to consider all the possibilities about the status of Kyler whether you like it or not.

Can we label this the official cope thread, mods?
Call it what you want, It’s an attempt to look at every angle. I know what WE want. I know what we are praying for. But do we know what Bidwill wants or thinks? Do you think it’s not even remotely possible Murray is not released?

He is gone. Even the national talking heads on TV say a separation is long overdue.

I think the 80% likely outcome is he’s released. The 18% outcome is he’s traded (with the Cards eating a ton of salary). The 2% outcome is he somehow stays.

He’s not giving up/back money to stay here though.

Gannon and the staff maintained that Kyler was our guy directly after the cowboys game. The next day that was no longer the case.

I take that to mean ownership got involved, you usually can't bench the QB with a huge contract without permission from the owner. Its possible Bidwill changed his mind and wants Kyler back, but I really doubt it.

If the Cardinals do not save money by releasing Murray, I can't see the advantage in doing so.

You could very well be right.

I totally understand your "what ifs" because of the history of our organization & ownership, nothing surprises me anymore, if they kept Murray I wouldn't be shocked, however, I think he's done here, just watching Kyler's facial expressions when JB was taking hits in the pocket while completing passes...........yeah, he knew. Too many questions after the season, does Gannon even survive? This is 6 straight losses giving up 40 points I believe? Does NR even survive? I think MB will listen to the off season plan Monti gives him, now, does Monti even wanna keep Gannon, does he feel safe with his own job hinging on the performance of Gannon next season? Like I said, too many questions, I guess we'll get our answers sometime around black Sunday.

We have heard nothing from the organization or his team mates about him staying. No words of support from anyone. He is gone. The last of SK failures

The Suns did it with Jae Crowder.

Imagine paying Murray and let him earn two salaries.
There reportedly are offsets in his deal so whatever he makes with a new team will be deducted from what Michael has to pay him, but I’m not sure why another team would want to pay anything.

This remains the most unhinged analysis out there.
Why? You know it’s these seemingly clever quips, lacking any real substance or analysis, that actually discredits some of what you write. When a team makes it clear they won’t retain a player it’s obvious he is either released or traded for the best offer, even if it’s weak. I agree he’s extremely unlikely to be back. However, the Cards haven’t openly stated as such; why? I maintain the reason is what I wrote. Throwing in money to trade for a useful draft pick isn’t unheard of. It may not be a huge value factor, but it’s a reality. Much depends on if there’s a GM or HC who value Murray. His compensation isn’t outrageous to assume if you compare him to the other reclamation projects with an eye towards the possibility of success. He had a terrible playoff game, but he’s also led a team to the playoffs.

Additionally, I resent the use of “unhinged” as a descriptor. It’s uncalled for and indicates a level of malice inappropriate on a discussion board. I offer opinions in good faith. Personal attacks have no place in this arena.

Why would anyone respond like this? I enjoy reading others insight and opinion, I even appreciated some, not all of Mitch's posts:) I may disagree but still like to read others thoughts. It seems there are several on this forum that have low self esteem and feel threatened by anyone that may have more knowledge or insight, or they simply think they know everything, and want to make sure we all know. There are polite, civil and respectful ways to disagree. No need to get personal and discourage others from posting

It absolutely is. Sam Darnold made $10 million with the Vikes last year; the year before he made $4.5 million with the 49ers. Daniel Jones is making $14.6 million with the Colts. Bakers first contact with the Bucs was for $4 million.

No team is gonna take on 2-4x that and give up an asset for Kyler Murray, who was last good three and a half years ago.

I’m sure Michael would love some team to give up a second round pick for Kyler on his current deal, but wishing doesn’t make it so. There are fewer desperate GMs out there than people here think.

Overall, I think Kyler's trade value is minimal however.
I think people around the league know exactly what you're going to get with Kyler. Playing him or indicating you may want him back on your own team isn't going to make anyone want him more or less at this point.

Eh there has been general incompetence around Kyler. Incompetent coaching and incompetent personnel management. I'm not going to be shocked when Kyler goes somewhere else, rides the pine for a bit, then gets another shot and plays pretty well. Obviously, the narrative will be, I got stuck with the crappy Cardinals and it ruined my career.

When the reality is he was an over-hyped college player who didn't really have what it takes to go very far in the pros. Wrong height, mindset, etc. It happens. Should have played pro baseball.

Eh he has a good amount of pretty spectacular tape too. I think a coach like Sean Payton would know what to do with Kyler. He's a flawed player for sure, but the Cardinals didn't exactly formulate a way for him to be successful.
