It absolutely is. Sam Darnold made $10 million with the Vikes last year; the year before he made $4.5 million with the 49ers. Daniel Jones is making $14.6 million with the Colts. Bakers first contact with the Bucs was for $4 million.

No team is gonna take on 2-4x that and give up an asset for Kyler Murray, who was last good three and a half years ago.

I’m sure Michael would love some team to give up a second round pick for Kyler on his current deal, but wishing doesn’t make it so. There are fewer desperate GMs out there than people here think.
It seems pointless for the 2 of us to go back and forth again. The offseason should provide the answer.

when they put Kyler on IR -- its clear that they had decided they were moving on. Announcing he wouldn't be back this year due to injury simply erased any remaining doubt.

Somebody --probably Mike, but maybe Monti who got Mikes buy-in -- told Gannon after the Dallas game that Brissett was the QB for the remainder.

Its why Kyler went from "might be able to play/have a role in Dallas" and Gannon being emphatic that Kyler was the starter to................ going on IR.

its over. We should kill off the Kyler debacle thread as there is nothing left to discuss.

Eh there has been general incompetence around Kyler. Incompetent coaching and incompetent personnel management. I'm not going to be shocked when Kyler goes somewhere else, rides the pine for a bit, then gets another shot and plays pretty well. Obviously, the narrative will be, I got stuck with the crappy Cardinals and it ruined my career.
Yes, it is everybody's else's fault Kyler sucks.

I totally understand your "what ifs" because of the history of our organization & ownership, nothing surprises me anymore, if they kept Murray I wouldn't be shocked, however, I think he's done here, just watching Kyler's facial expressions when JB was taking hits in the pocket while completing passes...........yeah, he knew. Too many questions after the season, does Gannon even survive? This is 6 straight losses giving up 40 points I believe? Does NR even survive? I think MB will listen to the off season plan Monti gives him, now, does Monti even wanna keep Gannon, does he feel safe with his own job hinging on the performance of Gannon next season? Like I said, too many questions, I guess we'll get our answers sometime around black Sunday.
Of course. All the talk has been Murray’s gone, the cap implications, before March after June, yada yada yada.
Really very little talk about any possibility of him remaining a Cardinal. We really don’t know how Murray feels. Is his feeling based on this staff? How does Bidwill feel about Murray.
I just wanted to open up some thoughts from all of you.
I agree, I think he is gone.

Kyler indicated he was gone even before the team did...when asked about the new facility and his comment to the effect of "if Im around to see it"...or some such...a clear indicator there had already been discussions or thoughts expressed in regards to his future with the team.
or maybe he got the dreaded,..."hey, lets get together after the season and discuss your future with the organization"
which is NFL speak for take a pay cut or be gone.

Is it possible EVERYONE on this board is 100% right about Kyler (collectively right)? At times, he has been amazing and has shown electric results with above average ratings. However, you also get all of the bad with him. Doesn't read defenses, doesn't seem to study, pouting, shows he isn't interested, dumb decisions, etc...

I've been a supporter in the past hoping he figures it out. The fact that the Cardinals tried to add a study clause clearly indicated something was wrong with the time he prepares. I'm done with him. Anyone who doesn't want to continue to refine his craft doesn't deserve my support. I'm over 60 years old and continue to better myself as I grow. At the end of the day, he may go to another team with a different coach and light it up who knows. I don't really care anymore.

Harry... I appreciate what you bring to the board and the analysis that goes with it. Keep up the great work!

Can we be 100% sure Kyler won’t be here next year?
I know what most of us seem to want. I know what the radio heads are saying.
There have been so many spins of salary implications of cutting now or later or trading him and eating salary that I ask, have we really looked at all the what if’s?
What if this coaching staff is fired?
What if Kyler would be willing to stay and be reborn with a new head coach?
What if Kyler’s contract is renegotiated and it makes it easier to trade or release him next year?
What if there is a head coach who would be willing to work with Kyler and promising him a system fit for him?
What if Bidwill sees Kyler’s failures directly tied to Gannon and Petzing.

Now before you all rip into me because this is all about “ what if’s”, I ask you please consider the organization we are talking about. Anything is possible and is anything really impossible with this team?
One thing seems certain. If Gannon is here in 2026, Kyler won’t be. But if Gannon and his staff is gone????

Also, this is not meant to be another Kyler sucks, no he doesn’t post. It’s not meant to be about how the fan base would feel. It’s simply an attempt to consider all the possibilities about the status of Kyler whether you like it or not.
agree...all of that is still possible.
also quite possible they mortgage the farm to get a QB and a RT in this draft...and keep Kyler around as back up to the rookie for a season.
would make sense if they retain The Petzing,...Kyler may not be good for the offense but he at least knows it well enough to have an edge over anyone brought in...
But what about Briskett??
Jacoby aint the answer...may have the better attitude to helop teach a young guy...but its Mike Bidwill....if you gotta pay one of them to go away Brisket is an easier pill to swallow....and if Kyler gets some playing time next year and performs well, he could increase his value.
maybe.
errr...maybe not

its a "what if" thread fer fuxx sake

I think you have the causality backward. I don’t think Michael picked up the phone and said “bench Kyler.”

I think Gannon told Kyler he wasn’t going to start against Dallas, Kyler felt some kind of way about it, and then it took the team (MOJG) a little time to convince Michael to shut Kyler down for good.

This is actually not quite possible
maybe not in your particular multiverse thread.
But anybody with functional grey matter and time with this squad knows you cant rule out anything with Bidwill.
Just to be clear...Im not accusing you of anything. Just pointing it out.

Eh he has a good amount of pretty spectacular tape too. I think a coach like Sean Payton would know what to do with Kyler. He's a flawed player for sure, but the Cardinals didn't exactly formulate a way for him to be successful.
Coach Payton saw one year of Russ Wilson and bailed. He has no interest in Kyler who is the same type of player.

it is all speculative, but my best guess would be..

Kyler thought he was going to start despite not being 100%.
Gannon told him he wasn't going to start but would have a role.
Kyler said that if he wasn't going to start, he would prefer to get 100% healthy vs having a role.
Kyler went on IR.
The season went to crap and Brissett was getting the crap kicked out of him.

After that, I think Kyler wanted to ensure his health for next year because he wants to start somewhere. I think Bidwill/Monti wanted to ensure he was not stuck on the roster due to injury or that they would need to pay an injury settlement.

I said previously (around when he was drafted), I didn't think Kyler would play past 30 because I didn't think he was the type of guy who was going to hang around the league making a lower salary and being the backup. Some of that was due to his play style and some due to his interests outside of football. Nothing I have seen to this date makes me feel differently.

The biggest issue for Kyler in the offseason is that the two best spots for him to rehab his career are KC and Minnesota and neither have the space to add him. The Rams and Colts have space but I'm not sure if either can guarantee him a chance to start. Maybe the Colts. Rams if Stafford retires.

There are other teams that I could see adding Kyler to start but they are not rehab destinations.

If Kyler really cares about winning AND proving himself, he’ll take a prove it contract with one of those teams… if they even show interest, via cut or trade.

My thought is he won't get a big offer and will sit out until near camp, and sign where there's an open spot, once he realizes he can't command a bigger deal.
