Otherwise what?
That’s the question. I think a playoff spot is enough to keep everyone’s jobs for another year.

I think a winning record but no playoffs leads to a warm seat for everyone. Even if there’s an embarrassing playoff exit or we fail to clinch with a win.

A losing record with Kyler playing 14+ games probably leads to hot seats for Gannon and maybe Monti, which could create some short-sighted decision-making.

I mean, might as well let them play out their contracts. Are the Cardinals really in danger of losing fans? I have to think that the fans they have will stick around regardless.

Nothing better than building a culture where people stress accountability and then going 20-31 and still getting to keep your job.

I like how the players play for Gannon and the staff. It’s hard to argue that.

Jury is out on Monti. He seems to have put the team in a pretty good position this year.

Main problem is still Mikey.

If the players stop playing for the coach, I think you have to make a move. I just have not seen any indicator that this roster is close to that.
I don't know if you can have Kyler Murray at quarterback and essentially Kyler Murray at head coach (both maybe between 12 and 20th best at their job) and expect to go anywhere. You basically need everything else to be perfect around them.

This is the Philly Eagles model, and you need Monti to be Howie Roseman. They also spend really aggressively, so you need Michael to be Jeffrey Lurie, not just for a couple of years, but for a decade.

I can want more for sure. But from an organizational perspective, if the players are good with a 9-8 season result and still believe in the coach, why would I force a move? Basically, unless Monti and Gannon lose the locker room or want to extend Kyler, there isn't a reason to move on from them at this point even if the progress isn't what the fans think it should be.

The argument is that having your coach and GM in a walk year creates organizational chaos.

I really could give a hoot if the players feel good about their result. 9-8 isn't good enough.

I guess if 9-8 gets us in the playoffs, I’d be fine with that record as it would still be trending in the right direction, but we’re at the point in which the Steve Keim dead weight is now gone and the roster doesn’t resemble a UFL roster anymore. 10 or more wins should be the expectation

That's fair, especially if we're competitive in the playoff game. The playoffs probably gets everyone extensions.

This. I could accept a one and done playoff appearance if there are clear signs that the trajectory is trending the right way. That means steps forward from Monti’s draft classes and that they are clearly the stars of the team

Clear signs like a last second loss at Philly or Detroit. I think I could deal with that. I THINK.

Making a trade is the way they save their jobs. Maybe one more big time player. I like the roster, but do we need that one more difference maker. D. Adams going to LA made them better. Stafford is getting older and the Cards D can razz him big time. Purdy and Darnold could get sacked a lot and pressured as well with their average speed. McCaffrey could and likely gets hurt. Seattle is running a new system on O. More reason to go trade for a big time player.
