The Cincinnati Bengals have been more than happy to move on from the Trey Hendrickson situation.

Bengals director of player personnel Duke Tobin made that pretty clear. Quarterback Joe Burrow played it nicer, but the aura of drama-free offseason work with no contractual problems in sight is obvious in Cincinnati.

It certainly doesn’t hurt, either, that the Bengals used droves of cap space in other ways. Meanwhile, the Baltimore Ravens agreed to a four-year deal worth up to $112 million with Hendrickson.

That deal now registers as one of the 10 worst contracts in the entire NFL, according to Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon.

“Hendrickson is slated to cost the team $34.5 million in his age-35 season in 2029,” Gagnon wrote. “Watch for the Ravens to wind up paying a $27 million dead-cap charge just to make him go away in 2028.”

Now 31 and coming off injuries and multiple years of contractual drama, the Bengals didn’t want to commit to more years of Hendrickson.

The Ravens were happy to, especially after nixing the Maxx Crosby trade. But it’s a move that felt a little unlike how Baltimore usually does business. If it ends up imploding, the Bengals benefit in the AFC North, too.
