The Phoenix Suns will present the first-ever Dan Majerle Hustle Award on Sunday evening, April 13, prior to the Suns’ regular season home finale versus the San Antonio Spurs.
Created by Suns CEO Jerry Colangelo, the award will be presented at the end of each season to the Suns player who most personified the qualities of Suns Ring of Honor member Dan Majerle. At Majerle’s Ring of Honor induction on March 9, Colangelo said, “When you think of Dan Majerle, you think of a guy who gave maximum effort in every game, every practice…in everything he did. It is this work ethic that inspired the creation of the award.”
In addition to the award, a $9,000 donation will be made to the charity of the winning player’s choice.
The winner of the Majerle Hustle Award will be selected based on the results of five voting categories: fans, who can cast their online ballots above, Suns players, coaches, employees and by "Thunder Dan" himself. Fan balloting is now underway, and will close at 12:00 noon on Sunday, with the Suns’ representatives casting their ballots on Friday. Each of the five voting categories will carry equal weight.
