I'm pretty much the last person to demand perfection from a TV show or movie. I enjoy CSI Miami, I had no problems with the "science" in Armageddon and Get Smart is my favorite show ever. I have no standards and little taste and I was offended by the lazy-ass writing in that episode. I'm still avidly awaiting the next year but this season-ender was a huge letdown for me.

I've never made fun of a show more but that's part of it's charm. Watching David Caruso pull his "but I care" routine every week along with the classic sunglasses routine makes it can't miss TV at our house.

Do they have to use the world's filthiest bathroom? Trainspotting was a bit rough for my tastes but that bathroom scene was gaggingly hilarious.

They've used bathrooms, but nothing as filthy as the one in Trainspotting.

It's basically a group of juvenile delinquents that suddenly end up with powers--and most of them are really interesting. Nothing as simple as having the ability to fly.

It's basically this group of late-teens that are on a work detail for their probation. It just aired the 5th episode of the 2nd season, although the 1st season is only like 6 episodes. I don't know if BBC America is running it, but if you can track it down, it's more than worth it. Definitely my favorite (along with Sherlock) British production right now. Very gritty and the effects are minimal, which to me is much, much better than what Heroes did in later seasons with over-the-top effects.

EDIT: Just did some checking and it is NOT playing on any station in the US. Which makes a little sense, since while there is no nudity, it is very much a British show and the language definitely bares that out--like I said, very Trainspotting. Also, apparently there will be Season 3 in the UK and there are still plans for an American remake. Hopefully not on Fox, but you never know. It also won the BAFTA (the British Oscars) for Best New Drama last year.

Back on point, I think they had a dilemma because there was uncertainty with a 2nd season. For starters, 6 episodes was just way too short. Why bother? They did a good job with the first 5 then came the 6th which was the season finale. They plodded it along and then tried to do too much at the end. The whole CDC thing just seemed out of place. Why Jenner(the scientist) wasted energy on keeping computers going is strange and the whole ending as well. However, the writers probably had to make an open ended ending in case the series was picked up.

Maybe, but they announced a 13 episode second season long before the first season ever began to air. I agree that 6 episodes was way too short and it's probably expecting too much for every episode to be top notch but we're kind of spoiled with our season enders; they usually are a step above the middle episodes and this one wasn't (IMO).

That's exactly what happened.

They could have done what 24 did. In it's 1st season, 23 filmed 2 different endings; one where Teri lived and one where Teri died. If 24 was going to be one and done, Jack would have found Teri alive and all would have been hunky-dory. But, as we all know, they showed that Nina killed Teri which set up Jack's state of mind in season 2. Walking Dead could have done the same.

I'm pretty sure money was tighter seeing that 24 was a Fox show and Walking Dead is an AMC show. They may produce some fan favorite shows, but they aren't going to spend major network money to produce 2 different ending, one of which would never make them any money.

I'm late to the argument because I just caught up...but I'm curious what happened in the comic books. Did they go to the CDC and did it explode? If so, they are just sticking to THAT story.

Also, while I find the guy doing the CDC research to be kind of cool for doing it, I also highly doubt that if the CDC DID have a self-destruct, that they'd tell a random guy interviewing them on a phone call

If I recall correctly, the show veered away from the comics some time ago, and I don't believe they ever went to the CDC, let alone find a doctor who explained everything.

Its a nice mix of zombie-genre geek gore, character development and back story to kep the wifes of the zombie geeks interested, suffers from typical season 1-character-finding actors and acting, and has some real CHEESEBALL moments throughout. That being said, I enjoyed the whole thing. Good mindless (no pun intended) fun.

You guys know they fired the entire writing staff right? I would have to imagine the finale played a big part in that. I think it was the worst episode this season. It is not to say it is bad but it definitely downgraded the show in my book.

That's kind of an exaggerated rumor. They didn't fire anybody, they basically aren't going to be using the same writers next season. A lot of times, it's just the business, but sometimes it's because of quality issues. My guess it's a little bit of both with this show. But I can almost guarantee you they didn't come to the writers and tell them they suck and are fired.

That said, I'm happy they are switching it up because the writing indeed was not good.

Though "The Walking Dead" will be returning to AMC on October 16th for a second season, Deadline reports that Frank Darabont will be stepping down as the series showrunner.

Darabont, who made the transition from films like The Shawshank Redemption and The Mist to the small screen with the ongoing adaptation of the Robert Kirkman zombie comic, is said to potentially be staying aboard the series in some capacity, though an official announcement has yet to be made. There is also no official reason yet for his departure from the show, though it is highly likely that a return to the big screen may be in Darabont's future.

Saw the trailer for season two and I gotta say "I'm not impressed". Looks like the group of survivors disolves into smaller groups...

Also a small annoyance in the trailer... Deputy Walsh is running for about 4 or 5 seconds and then falls. As the camera pan's away the zombie's are at his heels and they were WALKING the entire time!!! How does someone run and not get any distance between himself and 'The Walking Dead'?!?!?! dumb...
