I think I'd still rather have a good OT than Saquon. Levi Brown vs. Peterson gets brought up a lot, but that's mainly because Brown was bad and only lasted 5 years. Lane Johnson has been Right Tackle for the Eagles for 13 years now and is still their most important player.

I'm deciding now. I'm in on Francis Mauigoa.
Johnson has been great. But he was drafted to be their LT but couldn't handle it, so they moved him to RT. Which was obviously the right call. But if they had envisioned only as a RT on draft day, I don't think they take him at 4. Doesn't matter because it worked out but you don't typically see projected RT's going that early in the draft. Sewell has played RT only but he's probably moving to LT next season once they move on from Taylor Decker.

I get it though, if they draft the Utah kid and he has a Lane Johnson type career, he's more than worthy of the 3rd pick. Same with Downs or Love. If they're great, it's a great pick but those positions aren't typically top 3 picks.

Since 2020 the #3 picks have been:
Jeff Okudah CB- injuries have decimated his career, disappointing.
Trey Lance QB- reach and a bust
Derek Stingley CB- might be best CB in the league
Will Anderson EDGE- on his way to being elite
Drake Maye QB- might be league MVP
Abdul Carter EDGE- bust so far.

But every pick has been a skill position pick. It's funny in '21 and '24, QB's went 1-2-3. One was a bust and one is MVP caliber. Simpson???

Ladainian Tomlinson and drew brees

Thank you DGF! :)

Drew Brees instead of the gentle giant Leonard Davis.. mmmm.. would have been nice.

And while PHI was smart enough to move Johnson to RT, the Cardinals could never quite figure out what to do with Big. Man we are snake-bitten as a franchise! Can't get out of our own way!

IIRC Dallas moved Davis to guard and he became all pro at that position.

Brees was a 2nd round pick of the Chargers not 1st round

Do you remember who we got in the second round that year….without looking it up…when we do get a good player he was always hurt….more trivia….what player did we trade for a high pick that year?

Which is exactly what most of us were screaming for for years..
Big Leonard was never an LT...just a guard in a monstrous body.
Our staff was never able to see what was so obvious to every football mind in the country

Yeah, they were saying you can't pay LT salary to a guard. I mean at that point, you are paying him that salary anyway. Why not pay him to play better as a guard? It was such a dumb argument.

Davis had limited lateral movement. He was excellent as a guard for the Cowboys.

7 mil to stay in college. 45 mil if he enters the draft

Oh wow I had to look it up but what a couple of names from our past!

Our 2nd round pick in 2001 was Kyle Vanden Bosch!

The player we traded was Aeneas Williams! To the Rams for a 2nd and a 4th!

Great stuff DGF!

Best decision is to go pro. He is the number two pick and won't drop pass the Cards at number three. An injury or bad year in college could set his draft rankings back significantly. There are so many qbs that stayed a year too long.
