I think it adds to fandom. It gives us average Joe's a chance to profit from a team's success without having billions to buy a team. It also sucks even more when they lose. I don't encourage gambling, it can get out of hand like anything but I find no harm personally in throwing a few bucks on a game to sort of drive my personal enjoyment. It would help if the Suns could win some games but it makes those games in December against bottom feeders like the Wizards more enjoyable, to me, knowing I could walk away with enough to get some new merch for free. That didn't work well this season so those games stung more but if it's not your cup of tea then I respect it.

I've always enjoyed betting on sports although I don't do it any more but even still, it would be hypocritcal of me to rail about sports betting. I sort of feel as you do but mostly because I worry about the integrity of the game and the fact that a certain number of new sports bettors can't really afford it. I'm not really concerned about it "detracting from fandom" as you say. AFAIC we crossed that bridge when fantasy leagues and such became popular.

If one is betting on a game, there may be conflicting views of the game. I want to enjoy sports for the pure enjoyment. This is one of the reasons I have never entertained the idea of sports betting.

I know we aren’t getting anywhere near what we gave for Durant, but these deals are awful.
He's 37, and he is only willing to sign an extension with a couple teams.

We had the same leverage, but were too stupid to use it, instead Ishbia panicked to get it done by the deadline.

ish has messed this up every step of the way

kd leaving wasn't a forgone conclusion in brooklyn which is why they got top dollar

our top dollar was right before the trade deadline this year - our top dollar was when kd leaving wasn't a forgone conclusion - our top dollar was the golden state offer

when it got out that we were shopping him - that was our last chance at anything resembling top dollar

when ish respected kd's desire not to be a warrior again - ish should've told kd he was being traded regardless and that kd should provide a list of acceptable destinations

but nah - now everybody wants kd for a kfc 3 piece - the teams that need him will now not overspend because they know they could end up being the best offer - because we're stupid

the limited amount of destinations that kd will go to... it makes ish powerless and further proves just how bad at this he is

Golden State wouldn’t make the trade without Durant’s blessing. No team would have traded anything of substance for him without his blessing, so trading him at the trade deadline just wasn’t plausible.

There are better deals out there like the rumoured one with Spurs. I'd suggest a bigger one with Magic.
SA get KD, GAllen, ROneill
Magics get Vessel
Suns get Sohan, Barness, KJohnson, Isaac, Anthony; SA's 14th pick + 1 future FRP and Magic's 16th pick; + other 2ndRPicks + some FRP swaps from both teams.

I don't believe it. There are teams right now supposedly willing to trade for him with only one year on his contract where he doesn't want to go.

Do we get as good a deal maybe not, but if we really wanted to have moved him at the deadline we could have.

That might be the worst deal yet.

If we aren't going to get any young players or picks what the hell is the point - surely they cannot really believe we can compete with Booker and a bunch of average NBA players.

If that was the best deal we could get, I would rather just play this year out and get all the cap space when he leaves next year. That package is disgusting.

Simmons just said last night on his pod that Isiah Thomas was on facetime for several of the coaching interviews.

This is getting scarier and scarier.

If I knew that Thomas were going to be heavily involved in the Ishbia FO, I would have had a completely different opinion on Ish.

That trade woudn't work under the CBA at the moment.

However, Rob Dillingham is a point guard. He was the 8th pick in the 2024 draft.

Gobert and DiVincenzo are not chopped liver.

If there were picks involved I'd do that. DiVincenzo is worth at least a 1st in a flip elsewhere. Gobert has value as well and could be flipped. It would be playing the long game, trying to get more over time than all at once.

Gobert leaves Minnesota and their defense falls apart. They become the Suns, essentially, with Ant and KD struggling to make the play in

He's a free agent now, with Minnesota having his bird rights. I can't see a lineup of Ant, KD, and Randle maintaining a defensive identity that has helped Minnesota ascend to the top of the West.

Thats why i see more of a s&t, randle for kd. He's more dynamic than Gobert.

Completely different situation. Golden State reached out to Durant and would not do the deal without his blessing.
i was under the impression ish went and told kd about the trade - kd promptly said he didn't want to go - but what evs amigo - my point still stands
