The Phoenix Suns continue to address their free agents with Jordan Goodwin agreeing to a three-year, $19-million deal with a player option on the third year, sources confirmed June 21 to The Arizona Republic
ESPN’s Shams Charania reported the news earlier on Father’s Day morning.
NBA teams can begin signing free agents to contracts July 6.
Emerging as the team’s best on-ball defender, the 6-3 Goodwin averaged 8.7 points and 4.9 rebounds and a career-best 1.5 steals in the 2025-26 season.
Phoenix finished the regular season fourth in the NBA in steals at 9.5 a game.
Goodwin also shot 37.1% from distance after making a career-high 38.2% of his 3s in 2024-25 with the Los Angeles Lakers. He previously played for Phoenix in 2023-24.
The Suns are also looking to sign unrestricted free agent Collin Gillespie to a four-year, $48-million deal, sources confirmed June 20 to The Republic .
Phoenix has also tendered a qualifying offer of $9.6 million to starting center Mark Williams and a two-way deal to guard Koby Brea, making both restricted free agents, sources confirmed to The Republic.
Back in April, Suns team owner Mat Ishbia talked about staying pat for the most part after a surprising 45-win season and playoff appearances.
He was confident then in bringing back the team’s free agents.
“We have a couple of free agents and we’re going to want to make sure,” Ishbia said in an interview with The Republic.
“Those guys are being coveted by other teams, but they are going to want to stay here because we treat them great, and we’re going to pay them and they see the opportunity to be a part of this organization with our coach, with our GM (Brian Gregory) and everyone around it. I think the continuity, we want to have it, they also want to have it, too. Those guys want to come back here and be in Phoenix, which should be a big deal.”
Gillespie and Goodwin are two of those “free agents” the Suns are bringing back.
