This is pretty much a do or die. For us to stay legitimally in the hunt, we need to take at least two of three. Too bad Ortiz pitches game one.

Ortiz vs. Williams
Vazquez vs. Peavy
Halsey vs. Chan Ho Park

Not to get too optimistic, but with Khalil Green and Giles both presumably out for the Pods, and IF our bats can show up again, and IF... well, lots and lots of ifs, but - what the heck. Go for it. But if we get swept, can we please, please, please make it an official policy of this board to consider the year cremated?

...and IF we can give directions to somewhere other than PETCO Park for Ortiz... ;)

Yeah, and IF a frog had wings, he wouldn't bumb his A$$ a hopin'

How sad is it that we have to beg for all things to break our way in order to beat a sub .500 club....

5-1 Diamondbacks as Glaus, Tracy and Stinnett go deep. Glaus looks like the hitter he was in April right now.

You better knock on wood.

Yeah - like Thom talking about Klesko's poor HR numbers...

Well, we probably need a little fatter cushion than 3 runs to finish the ninth.

Diamondbacks win! Got a little scary there in the 9th. That's three in a row. Tough one tomorrow against Peavy.

Nice to see Papa Grande fix what he almost broke. . Nice outing by Ortiz, timely hitting! Wow can this be the Diamondbacks? Peavy is gonna be tough!

How much do they pay Gonzo again? Will he ever hit a home run in the big leagues again? :)

Melvin with another brilliant bullpen move. Game is 4-3 in the 8th and he brings in Lyon. Brandon has sucked ever since he rejoined the team. What the h*ll is Melvin thinking?

Oh yeah, we played a game today...

9-5 Padres - - we are now 6.5 games back, and fall to 3rd place behind the Dodgers, with SF .5 games behind us in 4th.

We will now return to our regularly scheduled lethargy, already in progress. zzzzzzzz

It was nice while it lasted, but it's time to bring up the youngsters!
