The Oklahoma Sooners are getting ready for their Week 8 matchup with the South Carolina Gamecocks, and they'll be without a trio of key players. Starting wide receiver Keontez Lewis and veteran running back Jovantae Barnes will miss this week's game after being ruled out on the Friday evening availability report. On the defensive side of the ball, Oklahoma will be without defensive back Kendel Dolby.
Oklahoma needs a strong offensive performance after scoring just six points last week against Texas. The expectation is that John Mateer plays better this week, but the Sooners need everyone on the offensive side of the ball to play better.
Oklahoma's defense needs to keep doing what it's doing. While they struggled on third down for the first time this season in OU's loss to Texas. But they still held the Longhorns to just over 300 yards of offense. Texas had to work for every yard and the Sooners had Arch Manning under pressure. The Oklahoma defense has to do a better job on third down and at containing super athletic quarterback LaNorris Sellers, better than they did with Manning.

Oklahoma at South Carolina predictions, picks, odds
Odds courtesy of BetMGM as of Saturday, October 18
- Oklahoma 20, South Carolina 16: The Oklahoma Sooners are 2-3-1 against the spread in 2025 and are 0-2-1 against the spread in their last three games. Many are expecting a bounce-back performance from John Mateer, but with a limited running game and a South Carolina defense that leads the SEC in turnovers per game, and that Oklahoma's on the road, this one has the makings of a closer game than what people think. The Sooners are going to just miss covering the spread in this one.
- Spread: Oklahoma by 4.5
- Over/under: 43.5
- Moneyline: Oklahoma -210, South Carolina +170
