I thought I would do a little exercise to see the success of the first hired coaches in the hiring process. I have looked from 2020 and until last year (five just seems like a good number).

In 2020, the Cowboys were the first team to hire when they signed Mike McCarthy. He was fired after five seasons. Joe Judge (Giants) and Matt Rhule (Panthers) were the next two. Judge lasted two seasons, while Rhule got fired after three.

In 2021, both Robert Saleh (Jets) and Urban Meyer (Jaguars) were hired on the same day as the first two. Saleh lasted three seasons (and five games), while Meyer didn’t even get through his first season. Arthur Smith was the third hire, by the way. He was fired after three seasons.

In 2022, the Bears hired Matt Eberflus and the Broncos hired Nathaniel Hackett as the first two, on the same day. Eberflus was fired after nearly three seasons, while Hackett was one-and-done.

In 2023, Frank Reich was the first to be hired when Panthers did that. He did not make it through his first season.

In 2024, Brian Callahan was the first to get hired when Titans signed him. He was fired midway through his second season. Raheem Morris was the third. He was fired a week ago.

Oh, and the most successful from each hiring circle?

Kevin Stefanski got hired last in 2020.

Dan Campbell and Nick Sirianni were the third- and second-last hired in 2021.

In 2022, Kevin O’Connell was the last hired.

Sean Payton and Demeco Ryans were the second- and third hire out of five in 2023.

In 2024, Mike Macdonald was the last to be hired.

I think it is fair to say that you should not get super-stressed about the lack of news about the Cards.
I think this teams situation has us all leaning toward some experience. But I agree. I’m not going to hang myself if we don’t.

I hope not, rather have Salah and have him raid 49ers offensive / defensive staff or Kubiak and have him raid Seattle offense / defense coaches. Our division is toughest in the NFL. If we can weaken one of these teams through poaching quality assistants, do it.

This would mean MO gets fired for sure.

Vance is a total loser HC

One key issue with Vance or any other defensive-minded head coach is who the offensive coordinator is. Also, how well can they replace the offensive coordinator in the even that they get hired away?

This seems like a secondary concern

Seriously, do the Packers entertain the thought of firing LaFleur? Packers lost their last 5.

Small thing to point out.
Ben Johnson had vast knowledge of the Vikings, Lions and Packers. Think it might have played a little role of their success within the division?

Can you print this out and duct tape it to Bidwill's office, car, front door, mailbox and whatever else is necessary?

Bidwill is an absolute idiot. Should have just brought back JG with a healthier roster. This franchise will never get it & they never will. Heard Washington is interested in JG. We’ll rue the day we fired him, just wait and see.
This JG? Guy was clueless

Or they win 12 if they stay remotely healthy. Sadly, we’ll never know because we absolutely had to fire a coach who’s team had more injuries than any team in NFL history.
If "no excuses" for injuries was applied to every coach then people would be giving our previous staff credit for 2024 when we blew out the Rams 41-10 and swept the 49ers. The media (and plenty of fans) dismissed those wins because the Rams had 4 players injured, and the 49ers ended the year with 16 players on IR. 25 players on IR for us? Sports journalists barely say a word. That year we had a top 12 offense and an overperforming defense, but we were slammed with certain hard truths regarding our QB/defensive personnel and finished poorly.

Here's how it goes with angry fans, when we beat a team with a few injuries it doesnt count. But when we bottom out with 47% of the roster on IR, having to play our CB6 as our CB1 by week 4, then it's "no excuses"

Its part of the Bidwill strategy to fire the coach every 3-5 years. Whisenhunt and Arians are our longest tenured coaches at 6 and 5 years despite us being the oldest franchise. The Bidwells dont invest as much in the team as other owners, which sets staffs up for failure. So to keep fan interest in this sham up they have to regularly reset expectations with a new staff. People will mock you for showing any hesitation to dump on the previous staff. If they can't pretend the previous staff was incompetent, how can they have hope the new one will fix everything?
