He’s a top-5 offense during the Bush, Obama, Trump and Biden terms.
Favre & Dak were already proven before McCarthy coached both of them & had their best year without him. Credit to Rodgers I guess but that was many years ago.

Favre was completely washed when McCarthy took over and it’s not like Rodgers was seen as an elite prospect. Green Bay could have 2-3 more SB’s if it wasn’t for some fluky plays.

For whatever reason coaching in Dallas kills your reputation…

Arizona Cardinals: Fired head coach Jonathan Gannon on January 5. Expected to interview Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph. Requested interviews with 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh and Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver. Requested interview with Seahawks offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak. Requested interview with Patriots passing game coordinator Thomas Brown. Set to interview Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy on January 9.

Just looking at the people we are currently rumored to be interviewing:

I personally want an experienced coach.
That puts Thomas Brown, Jeff Hafley, Klint Kubiak, and Anthony Weaver out for me.

What is left:
Vance Joseph: 2 years as HC, 2 losing seasons. One of the most talented defenses in the NFL, so not giving him much credit (compare that to Minny). Nope
Raheem Morris: 6 seasons as HC - 5 of those are losing seasons. Nope
Matt Nagy: 4 seasons as HC - only 1 losing season. Got 12 wins and the playoffs twice with Mitch Trubisky! He inherited Trubisky.
Robert Saleh: 4 seasons as head coach and all 4 were losing seasons. Nope

Just from the list of veteran coaches above, Matt Nagy is clearly the only one we should consider.

At the top of my list right now (other than Harbaugh) is Stefanski, McDaniel, and Flores.

I thought I would do a little exercise to see the success of the first hired coaches in the hiring process. I have looked from 2020 and until last year (five just seems like a good number).

In 2020, the Cowboys were the first team to hire when they signed Mike McCarthy. He was fired after five seasons. Joe Judge (Giants) and Matt Rhule (Panthers) were the next two. Judge lasted two seasons, while Rhule got fired after three.

In 2021, both Robert Saleh (Jets) and Urban Meyer (Jaguars) were hired on the same day as the first two. Saleh lasted three seasons (and five games), while Meyer didn’t even get through his first season. Arthur Smith was the third hire, by the way. He was fired after three seasons.

In 2022, the Bears hired Matt Eberflus and the Broncos hired Nathaniel Hackett as the first two, on the same day. Eberflus was fired after nearly three seasons, while Hackett was one-and-done.

In 2023, Frank Reich was the first to be hired when Panthers did that. He did not make it through his first season.

In 2024, Brian Callahan was the first to get hired when Titans signed him. He was fired midway through his second season. Raheem Morris was the third. He was fired a week ago.

Oh, and the most successful from each hiring circle?

Kevin Stefanski got hired last in 2020.

Dan Campbell and Nick Sirianni were the third- and second-last hired in 2021.

In 2022, Kevin O’Connell was the last hired.

Sean Payton and Demeco Ryans were the second- and third hire out of five in 2023.

In 2024, Mike Macdonald was the last to be hired.

I think it is fair to say that you should not get super-stressed about the lack of news about the Cards.

Quibble on McCarthy. He wasn't fired; his contract expired and Jerry wanted a short-term extension and McCarthy wanted more than one year.

Interesting. So Mike McDaniel's offense and Anthony Weaver's defense were no better than the Cards'. Oh they had a lousy QB situation? So did the Cardinals. Oh Tyreek was injured? They still had Waddle & Achane, while the Cards had no RBs and plenty of WR time missed to injuries also.

And look at Saleh's defense! Worse than the Cards'. He didn't have Warner or Bosa... but neither do the Cardinals. Hmm.

Edited to add: and Jeff Hafley's defense wasn't much better than the Cards' even having Micah Parsons for most of the season.
The GM let Weaver’s lose at least one key guy. Look at his 2024 numbers.

I am not a Nagy fan...just the best of the worst experienced coaches we are rumored to be interested in.
Bidwill is an absolute idiot. Should have just brought back JG with a healthier roster. This franchise will never get it & they never will. Heard Washington is interested in JG. We’ll rue the day we fired him, just wait and see.

Man there is more sentiment like this on the board than I've seen in forever...

"If the Cardinals do "x", I'm OUT".

2025 a really, really disappointing season. People are upset!
It’s like quitting smoking. It’s so easy some people have done it a dozen times.

I like Robert Saleh. I went back and looked at the Jets on HBO's Hard Knock when he was head coach and liked his leadership style. He is smart, very outgoing and a tough minded coach. The Jets stuff was a problem with Aaron Rodgers the qb chosen by the owner and lasting not even one series in the first game. I don't hold the Jet experience against him and I'm sure learned from it just like Belichick did from the being the HC of the Browns.
